First you must realize you are not in a big city 4 star Hotel. You can't expect to get the service or the conveniences. For the area it's a nice quaint Hotel. Our bed was comfortable the room was nice size, the bathroom was adequate. The meal was quite tasty.

Room tip: If you have ability problems you may request a room with less stairs.

We are staying at the Winnock with a tour group and really love the hotel. Yes, it's old but we find it to be very charming with good food and decent service. And the town of Drymen is absolutely lovely. I would stay here again without hesitation.

We arrived in Drymen , the hotel was in the middle of the village one tiny supermarket and a couple of pubs, but it was quiet.
The hotel ,on first impressions was cosy, but the room we had ,had no main light so we reported this to reception who said they would get housekeeping to replace it, I was told on the second day that they had no spare bulbs and it would be done asap, on leaving 4 days later it still was not done, to make things worse the shower would only produce scalding hot or freezing cold water, this was due to a problem with the very old pipes, which regularly had air them, this happened quite often, this also meant that trying to have a bath was next to impossible because the hotel has 75plus rooms and the hot water ran out quite quickly,
However the food and service was excellent.

Room tip: Our room was quiet and accessable

This place was not a 4 star place. TV didn't work 2 out of 3 days. Fan in bathroom didn't work. Room service was spotty. Look for different place to stay if you can. Food was ok. The best thing about the hotel is the bar. But only if you don't have 1 of the rooms above it.

This was our first hotel stay of the tour, located in scenic Drymen. Our tour group is a nice size of 40 people and they were able to accommodate all of us. The layout of the hotel is very maze-like, so make sure you pay attention to the signs because it is very well marked. The hotel has a bar inside, The Ptarmigan, and a restaurant inside, The Merlin Restaurant, and you can order coffee and tea in the lobby. There is a Spar right across the street, which is essentially a convenience/grocery store, and an ATM right outside the Spar. You can purchase postage stamps at the Spar and if you have anything to mail, the hotel staff was kind enough to mail it for us, so long as the appropriate postage stamp was affixed.

We stayed in room 70 and the room was a decent size. Fair warning, they do not provide miniature shampoos, conditioners, body washes, anything. The only thing that was in the bathroom was cups for drinking and towels. So either come prepared with whatever you need or make a quick stop over at the Spar for whatever you’re missing.

We stayed for two nights, a Thursday night and a Friday night, and on Friday night there was a wedding that was held there. We were located at the very back of the hotel so the music wasn’t too bothersome, though at some point the connecting door was opened and the music got really loud, but when they closed the door again the noise went away. Some of out other tour mates weren’t so lucky and had a hard time falling asleep since the wedding didn’t wrap up until 11:30, midnight. If sleep is your thing, you might want to check with the concierge when you’re booking about whether or not there is an event being held during your stay, and I would suggest asking for a corresponding room. If I were booking this trip on my own, outside of the tour, I would stay here again.

The town of Drymen is so picturesque and well worth the visit.
