We went to The Claymore with National Holidays and stayed for 4 nights, arriving home last Friday (17th).
The room was basic but clean, the only thing letting it down was the hard lumpy bed and no shower, just a bath, but the view was quite spectacular, even though we hadn't paid extra for a scenic room!
The food was on the whole very good with plenty of choice, well served by our waitress, Angela who always had a smile to greet us with.
The free bar was excellent value and the queue was dealt with quickly. I upgraded my drinks so I could have Couvoisier brandy instead of some unheard of brand; well worth the 50p upgrade price!
The excursions were good, particularly the extra trip to Glasgow with an excellent guided tour by Don, who was drafted in to give our regular driver Joe a day off.
The evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss, but we enjoyed it all nevertheless.
The majority of the other guests were lovely, which was an unexpected bonus, and we even made friends with a few people that we will stay in contact with!
On the whole, it was an excellent value for money holiday, well worth the money.

Room Tip: Pay the extra premium for a scenic room, or take pot luck!

We stayed at The Claymore Hotel for three nights, we travelled with National holidays. The hotel is situated opposite Loch Long, beautiful views well worth paying the extra £10 for the scenic view. We stayed in room 1 which was very comfortable and clean, and had everything we needed. Breakfast and evening meal were included, the food was very nice and a good choice offered. The waiting staff were friendly and polite. The hotel itself needs refurbishing in parts, but you honestly can not complain for the money you pay. There is the added bonus of a free bar for three hours each evening. We were taken on two trips which were included in the price which were very enjoyable, our coach driver Karl was knowledgeable about the area and informed us of interesting places/facts along the way. We will definately be going back at some point as it was so enjoyable.
