Stayed for one night whilst walking West Highland Way with my German Shepherd Dexter.
The hotel has great views of surroundings mountains and loch.
Now lots of establishments allow pets and describe themselves as a "dog friendly" hotel, MacDonald hotel goes further and welcomes guests with dogs, and goes the extra step to help guests with dogs, without disturbing those who don't have dogs.
On arrival, the receptionist was welcoming, efficient and friendly, with my transferred bag held securely in a locked shed.
The room was modern, with a very nice touch of a dog blanket with some dog biscuits. It also had a bath, which after 6 days hiking almost 80 miles, was magical, blissful & so reviving.
The weather was very hot, so the midges were merciless, the hotel provision of screens on the room windows, allowing for the windows to be left open, was very welcome: simple but only accommodation I encountered on my hike over seven days, that took that provided screens.
All staff were very good, friendly and helpful, the young lady (she's studying German & Medicine) who seemed to be everywhere, was excellent, so helpful: thank you.
The food for my evening meal was tasty and reasonable priced.
Quite reasonable the hotel ask guest not to take dogs into restaurant, which is no problem for evening meal as bar is opened. For breakfast the bar is not used but the hotel set up a table in the bar for me and my dog: this is dog friendly and very welcomed on my part. The breakfast fry up was excellent.
I would recommend this hotel, without hesitation.

Stayed here one night whilst walking the West Highland Way. Good, clean rooms, nice evening meal, plentiful breakfast, and a smashing bar with a good selection of drinks and amazing views. The staff were great, very helpful and efficient, and always smiling and chatty. A very good stop.

Had a lovely evening in the Hotel Bar, cracking food and an extremely palatable whiskey choice. Cabin was most comfortable and ideal after a long day walking.
The views from the balcony were sublime. The staff were efficient, friendly and a credit to the organisation.

Room Tip: Fantastic views of the Loch

A lovely hotel with great service. Set in a beautiful spot.
However we thought it was only 5 miles away from Ben Nevis, but this is as the crow flies. It is actually a 45 minute drive at least.
We stayed in room 9, which was very noisy because of the car park & the other rooms. The room was boiling even with the fan on & the windows open.
If you stay here request to stay on the other side of the hotel.

We didn’t stay in the hotel but called into this pub and ended up staying the whole night. The pub has a terrace with great views of the loch.. the pub grub is very good, I had the vegetarian haggis burger and my other half had the highlander which he said was delicious! The staff are really friendly and the pub had a great lively atmosphere with even some live music at the end of the night, would def recommend this as a stopping point if you want beers with a view!
