well 1985 this hotel would be cassed as 5* but today it is very very tired and in great need of a full refurbishment which I hope it gets as it has the potential to something special
Good location welcoming friendly staff
Great brakefast and lovely evening meal at a reasonable price
The room was a great size clean with comfortable bed but pillows need renewed
Tea coffee making facilities and good WiFi in room
Over a bath shower which was a little scary cracking noise when you move
Lovey inside bar and large marquees area outside
Felt very safe with covid system in place floors clearly marked staff all in masks dinned area was well spaced out booking times for brakefast in place
Car parking on premises
10 min walk from sea front and town center

Lovely little hotel situated in a nice location. The building was a stunning old victorian style house. Check in fast and smooth by a lovely Gentleman. Good food good beer/whisky! What more could you ask for. Highly recommended.

Came here last minute on our way home to Orkney. Yes this hotel is old and in need of some tlc. It is, however full of character. Our room was very large, warm, with a decent enough bathroom which was clean and had copious amounts of hot water.

We would particularly like to mention the gorgeous staff members who were so warm and friendly and went the extra mile. Stephanie and Mags - they are such an asset to this place. We found that they couldn’t do enough for us. After explaining we would not be there for breakfast as we had to leave by 6am to catch our ferry home, they offered fresh bacon rolls that could be ready as a replacement. We gladly accepted and at 6am they were ready. The best bacon rolls we have ever had!

So all in all it’s not perfect but the staff make up for any lack.

No water or biscuits in the room. A very small TV, with antiquated furniture. Food and Drink are Horrendously over priced and of inferior quality. No breakfast before 7:00am I will not be recommending this hotel to my company - Balfour Beatty who have a requirement in Tain for hotel accommodation for several personnel over the next 3 years.

A family member had their wedding reception here. The food was lovely and the hotel well kitted out, but what made it such a stunning experience was the staff - including the owner, too. They simply couldn’t do enough to help us - going the extra mile would be an understatement. We had young kids with us who we might have worried were being disruptive to the calm, but the staff were so accommodating for them too. The whole experience was a joy and we will definitely be back.
