“Excellent hotel!”
Reviewed 23 January 2012

We stayed at the Brisbane House hotel for one night on 21/1/12. Unfortunately, the weather was terrible and on arrival at the hotel, the very pleasant receptionist informed us that their aerial was hanging off the roof, meaning that all the TVs in the bedrooms weren't working, but as a way of apology they would give us a complimentary dinner that night in the restaurant, which we gladly accepted. The meal was lovely, the restaurant is very modern and all the staff were very helpful. The room itself was also very nice, not huge but big enough. The radiator didn't seem to be working, but an oil filled heater had been placed in the room and this was more than adequate, it heated the room up very quickly. There was plenty of storage space for clothes if staying for any length of time. The bathroom didn't have a bath, but had an excellent shower, and was spotlessly clean. Overall, I have to say that we had a very enjoyable stay at the Brisbane and would definitely return.

Room Tip: We had a room at the rear of the hotel, but it would be nice to have one with a seaview, so I would...

My good lady and myself had booked for three days at the Brisbane, whilst visiting family. From the get go, we were overjoyed with our stay there. Efficient and warm reception, detailing all that you have to know when you check into any hotel. And with the extra little titbits of 10% off food for residents pleased us no end to such an extent I booked a table there & then for a table of 14 which included my brothers, their wife's and their kids.
Our room, lit up with the afternoon sun streaming through the sea view window, was spotless, tastefully decorated, and the bed was a little piece of heaven, (truly one of the best nights sleep I've had).
Our evening meal was relaxed, as ever, the food was always secondary to seeing the family. However, our night was enjoyable even more so, to the fact that the menu had an excellent range of dishes & the price was hard to believe as well. Service was attentive yet not obtrusive. Our meal can only be described as wonderful, even though the restaurant was quite busy, our food was delivered speedily and tasted very well. For two courses at £10.95, and our discount on top, I couldn't be more pleased. We had all our evening meals at the hotel.
Breakfast had the right amount of choice of continental dishes, and the choice of cooked breakfasts was terrific, friendly staff and very courteous.
Need to visit family more often! if only to enjoy this joyous gem of a hotel

I stayed at the Brisbane while visiting relatives. From my booking to departure all was dealt with courteously and professionally. Our room 105 was a complimentary upgrade, was beautiful with a four poster bed and plenty of space for us to entertain. The bathroom was to die for with a shower and a jaccuzzi bath.
The Restaurant served a wide variety of foods. The fish'n' chips was more of a whale!!! and my husbands noodles were just right.
We will certainly return next time visiting our relatives

Room Tip: be nice to reception staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and you may get comp upgrade

I visited this hotel for lunch with friends having read Tam Cowan's review. Everything about the experience was excellent. Food was lovely and the staff were very efficient and friendly. The lunch time 2 course menu - £6.95 is wonderful value. I will certainly be visiting again.

Stayed here a little while ago and found it to be one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. Very over priced room which faced onto air conditioning units on flat roof. Very noisy. Will never stay again.
