The Haylie Hotel has a great little restaurant with an intimate and romantic ambience. The food is very good and steaks are a speciality. The quantity of food served on your plate can be quite intimidating if you don't have a substantial appetite but the quality is of a high standard.
The staff are helpful, pleasent and efficient with a good sense of humour. One aspect of the dining experience needs to be adderssed and that is that the 'background music' played is far from 'background music and is far to loud to the extent of making conversation difficult. Although asking politely on two occasions to have the the volume turned down the music contnued at an uncomfortable level and we were advised that it was not possible to reduce the sound. People with even a slight hearing difficulty would find conversation in this restaurant next to impossible.

We eat here regularly and the food is outstanding.

Genuinely, we have never had a bad meal here and the staff are great. They could not do enough for you. Steak is the speciality but there are also a number of fish and chicken dishes which taste amazing. The things that I like most are the great taste of the food and the quality of the food.

You need to try the mushrooms filled with cheese as a started or the chicken in swiss cheese as a main course. Fantastic.

I haven’t stayed but I have seen the rooms and they are really nice – all modern and clearly the family have invested in the hotel.

If you haven’t tried the Haylie – make sure you do but you may have to book for a table on a Friday or Saturday night.

Room Tip: I have not stayed but I have seen the rooms and they all seem very modern and the hotel has free WIF...

A very stressful stay at this hotel which was very expensive and more like London prices; the facilities were basic and it's a cheek to call it a hotel. It wasn't warm and the manager was extremely uptight and difficult. On a positive note, the food is good but my husband and I would never stay here again. Not the warm Scottish welcome you expect.

Room Tip: Don't stay just come for the restaurant.

We arrived from Australia and had a few days with no booked accommodation. I lived nearby as a child but have no friends locally only elderly relatives whom we did not wish to impose on with our 3 Kids!. The manager Alan was very friendly and helpful - the kids really liked him. We opted for a self contained unit downstairs which was private, clean and functional with 2 bedrooms, large bathroom, kitchen and 3 FS TVs. We had a great few days and loved the hotel and the food. A large guest only lounge upstairs has a fantastic view across the Firth of Clyde to Cumbrae and Arran. The breakfasts were perfect and the evening meals excellent. We would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Upstairs clean well decorated some with views. Downstairs Apartment for family - excellent value.
