What this older hotel lacks with its uneven floors and dated decor is more than offset by the great location and really helpful staff. Handy for beach and town centre. Many coach trip parties visit here and the staff were seen going out of their way to assist those who might need it. Great views.

Stayed at this hotel with Alfa holidays. Food was average, portions were small and vegetable trays not enough for two and meals definitely not on par with other Alfa hotels. Good choice though. Mainly friendly staff in the hotel but one a bit abrasive.
The shower is a water-saving shower and has very little pressure making shower difficult. Rooms are a little dated but the bed was comfortable and clean rooms.
Bar prices are average, entertainment was good especially Paul Anthony & Ian Boyd who really worked the audience, best I’ve heard for a while!
Location opposite the beach was very good and a boat ride only two minutes away which are well worth a trip and good value for money. I highly recommend the cream tea on the pride of exmouth.
Be Careful when crossing the road from the hotel though as cars speed down there like a race track, a lot of teenagers on scooters too! Lovely gardens 2 mins from hotel, a tranquil place. I would recommend but trip to Dawlish was not the best as not much to do.

We stayed in Exmouth and were not disappointed, the place is very clean and we saw no litter or dog mess anywhere, the hotel was clean and the staff pleasant and helpful, I must commend the Chef as his special meal of curry was excellent the beef lasagne delicious and the sticky toffee pudding to die for, food wise and we have been to 9 different Alfa hotels he is most definitely the best chef, the night I had the lasagne my husband had fish & chips which were not good as the fish was not cod, other guests said the same we didn’t comment to the staff as it was not their fault but who ever orders the food the only good fried fish is cod, I would stay again in the Cavendish hotel.

Easy to find with onsite parking. Quick check in. Room average basic and dated. Small TV could hardly see picture. Could not have the window open as outside was the extractor fan for the kitchen very very noisy. Had to ask reception for an electric fan which they promptly bought to the room. Breakfast was dry and the toast was hard and cold the orange was cheap as was the tea and coffee. Everything was rushed but the staff worked very hard. No entertainment on a Saturday night which was disappointing. The hotel is across the road from the amazing beach it goes on forever and the sand is golden and fine. Pubs and restaurants are within walking distance. I would stay again purely but not in room number 8!

Room Tip: do not stay in room number eight extractor fan from kitchen outside bedroom window

Went on a coach trip and stayed at this hotel quick checking room sea view large twin bed room plenty of room for everything only problem was the middle window it was blown so not much view because of the moisture between the two pains of the double glazing but not a big problem as the windows on either side were fine. The carpet and furniture were a little dated but clean and usable with plenty of drawers and lots of hanging space.
The lift was small but not a problem during my stay.
Food well what can I say for me it was great plenty of it and if you like a salad they do a very good one of your choice as for me I eat almost anything so was not disappointed. The waiting staff were good one of the lads didn’t have very good English but got by and could only get better. The young lady that served us was first class.
The only complaint about the mealtime was that they were very regimented but if you spoke to reception to sort an earlier breakfast this was arranged without fuss.
Overall all of the staff were helpful and very willing to help.
I would recommend this hotel and would visit it again.
