We stayed for two nights in part to photograph a special train on the famous Sea Wall. The hotel is easily found and has plentiful parking, including some areas shaded by trees. One is immediately struck by the location: grassy slopes, sea view, attractive terrace for al fresco drinks/dining and an impressive frontage and entrance. The good impression continues inside, and not just to the reception area: the whole hotel is immaculately presented, clean, tidy and in good order. We paid for a sea view and our room had a decent-sized balcony with table and chairs. The hotel's orientation means that sea view rooms get direct sun in the morning, ideal for that first coffee! Our room was well-equipped with comfy beds, a smart bathroom and an excellent shower. There is no skimping on commodities. Breakfast and dinner were both to a high standard. Although a full waitress service is available, most guests opt to use the buffet which (unlike many) actually keeps the food hot. After dinner, the terrace, lounge and bar offer comfortable relaxation, and I was pleased to find a choice of cask ('real') ales. The hotel is a short walk from the promenade, amusements, pubs, golf course, nature reserve and railway station. With regular trains to Starcross, Exeter and Exmouth in one direction, and Dawlish, Teignmouth and Torbay in the other, one can easily leave the car in the car park and avoid the heavy summer traffic. My praise of the Langstone has two caveats. First, the rooms lack air conditioning and with flat roofs, the first story at least could get rather warm in hot weather. Secondly, thin walls with poor sound-proofing qualities mean that a quiet night is very dependent on the consideration of one's neighbours. It would therefore be wise to pack ear-plugs.

Room tip: Sea view rooms are sunny in the morning.

We stayed here last night as a party of 8 with 2 young children and it was a pleasant stay. Very clean with a beautiful view and easy access to the beach! Breakfast had a good variety and staff were more than happy to cook fresh food for you. Used the swimming pool after breakfast with the children it was very clean but a bit dated, very warm as well unlike some indoor pools! Very family friendly!

Stayed here for two nights on a business trip. Looked a tad run down from the outside but lovely inside.

Room was nice with the standard stuff in it. Food was great. A nice few minute walk to a couple of pubs.

I'd go again.

It was 11 years since I had been to the Langstone Cliff Hotel and I'm delighted to see that the standards are still high. This is a family run hotel that set high standards and they work hard to keep those standards. The grounds and setting are wonderful and the hotel is kept spotless and well maintained with all the facilities you could ask for including indoor and outdoor pools, snooker room and hairdressers. Ample parking for everyone.

The bedroom I had was huge, very well furnished and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a bath and a separate show which was excellent.

Breakfast is of the hot buffet style which I personally don't like but if you want to sit down and be served then you just say and it's fine. The quality of the breakfast was very good and the coffee excellent.

I had a bar meal on the Saturday lunch time which was very good, a seafood platter.

A very well stocked bar and plenty of staff who really did want to make the staff as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

I had two slight complaints, The first is that the WiFi isn't very good and that is after a new system had been installed. It's slow and you keep on dropping the signal.

The second is that I don't expect to order brinks at the bar sit down at a table in the corner by the bar and have drinks passed over instead of delivered to the table, well not a hotel of the standard of the Langstone Cliff.

Saying that, I will return and recommend the hotel to anyone who wants a relaxing stay in a quality establishment with a gorgeous setting.

Room tip: Have a garden view room if possible.

Hello,
It was very nice to welcome you once again to the Langstone Cliff Hotel and thank you for sparing the time to give us your views on our hotel.

We are pleased you appreciated the grounds and facilities which we have on offer.

We are very pleased that you enjoyed your meals and the Douwe Egberts Coffee but disappointed to hear that the service on one occasion was not as it should be, please accept our apologies for this shortcoming.

At the time of your visit our new upgraded Wi-Fi system was still in the process of being installed and there were still a few areas which were running on the old system.

Now the new system is fully in place we should have eliminated the weak points in the old system please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Kind Regards

First stayed at this Hotel thirty five years ago with our young children. We have returned several times since with our extended family, grandchildren etc. Still owned and run by the Rodgers family for almost seventy years.

We all enjoyed our four night stay in the well furnished accommodation. Our food over the four nights was good with a varied entertainment program.

Indoor pool and children's playroom all make for an enjoyable stay. This is a good family run Hotel that caters for most people with or without children. We did have a couple of minor issues last year that were dealt with by the family owners , and as you can see, did not prevent us from returning again this year.

My grandchildren have already asked if we are returning next year, and the answer was yes. Thanks to all the Rodgers family and staff for an enjoyable stay.

Regards Fred Farmer and Family
