Had a lovely stay recently at the IIsington Country House Hotel and Spa. Beautiful view from our room with well kept grounds to walk around. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The food and service were excellent at dinner and breakfast. Lovely little touches in our room such as the homemade biscuits which were absolutely delicious! A very comfortable hotel with a pleasant family feel to it. Will definitely make a return visit.

We had three nights, and ate in at the Blue Tiger each night. A lovely room, nice view and very comfortable bed. The food is exceptional including the breakfast. Staff are friendly , helpful and welcoming. my wife had a spa treatment which she said was great. Swimming pool, sauna etc all very nice. (very small point, thin walls between our room and the next meant that one could hear their morning conversations.) The hotel is in a great position for exploring Dartmoor, we will definitely be back.

Room Tip: there are a variety of rooms, we opted for a larger room with a huge bed

Excellent room, food and all round service in ideal and lovely surroundings. The staff kept some food back for us as we were late arriving which was very thoughtful. The pool was very nice and the whole experience was well worth the long journey down from the Midlands. We would come again and would certainly recommend the hotel to anyone else.

Located in lovely grounds with some great views at breakfast.

Good gym and spa facilities which have everything you need at a high standard.

We decided to eat in our room one night as my partner felt poorly. We asked for some cutlery, salt & pepper and butter - all of which we would have collected ourselves from the bar. Rudely we were told this would come at a cost of £10.... £10! On the second night we requested an ice bucket as it was our 10year anniversary and we'd brought a present to celebrate - this was also not allowed without a £10 cost (but they would give us ice in a pint glass?!).

We stayed for x2 nights and paid extra (£40) for a massage, it shouldn't of been such an issue but apparently it was. This put a downer on our stay which was a big shame.

It also wasn't as 'dog friendly' as expected. There were no bins anywhere on the grounds to put dog waste which was rather annoying. Dogs were only allowed in the very small conservatory and the bar... both of which had no comfy seats which was a bit of a shame. Maybe have one of the two lounges dog friendly?

Breakfast was great quality but it took a long time to come out. There's also no music which is rather awkward, especially as you can hear others around you eating. It would have been nice to have a little background music. Also to note, breakfast doesn't start until 8am which is rather late if you have an early start.

Nice hotel with great facilities & food, just not as dog friendly as expected or accommodating with reasonable requests.

Thank you for your review and outlining the positives of your stay. It is the first time we have been asked for cutlery, crockery and condiments for someone who has brought their own food and drink in. We have a bar and two dining areas which is a service, as a hotel, we offer for our guests and suffices for most. We also have room service menu f you wish to dine in your room. I'm afraid self-catering is not an area we are going to diversify into and so we will be unable to imrove this service for you but appreciate you highlighting it.

Delighted that overall you enjoyed it.

Kind regards,

Richard
