The whole trip exceeded are highest expectations. We cannot say enough good things about Carmel who went well out of her way to make this trip special for us (We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary) and the rest of the tour group. Carmel is a great asset and a fine representative of your Vagabond team. We enjoyed all the stops and the accommodations were excellent. We particularly enjoyed our stay in Gougane Barra. Neil and Katie are wonderful hosts. The opportunity to hike, bike and Sea Kayak provided a unique opportunity to experience Ireland away from the typical Coach Tour. We will gladly recommend your tours to our friends and family and look forward to returning to Ireland to tour with you again.

We recently booked a 12 day tour through Ireland with Vagabond. The group consisted of two couples in our 60's, and my son, aged 33. The itinerary was interesting and varied. We had initially expressed the desire to hike, and it was richly rewarded! Every day, we were led on treks up mountains to visit ancient grave sites, into the bogs to learn about peat, along expansive vistas on the Antrim coast of Northern Ireland, and into beautiful museums and gardens. Our guide and driver, Tim Orr was a true gem! A mountaineer by training, he was knowledgeable, funny, thoughtful, and safe. Every day, Tim would discuss plans and options with the group. We often modified the day's activities according to weather and interests without any hesitation. A very special part of the trip was getting to find and visit with my wife's family at their farm in the town of Hospital near Limerick. Vagabond was instrumental in facilitating the encounter , and we were able to see the homestead where 16 generations of Ryans had lived!
The cost for this 12 day trip was not inexpensive, but compared to other offerings we have seen, it was by far the best value!

Hello George, thank you for your review of your private adventure tour in Ireland. Ireland is super for hiking, the views of the landscape below from our 'mountains' are incredible. We loved all your photos along the way too, thank you for sharing them with us. At Vagabond we offer good value for money for our small group tours, good to hear you felt this was the case. Tim is top notch for sure! See you back again one day soon. Helen Cole, Marketing Manager

As an American with Irish ancestry, it has been a dream to travel throughout Ireland. We did the 8 day Wild Irish Rover and boy, did it deliver! The small group format was great, never waiting for a bus to fill or roll call. Our guide Henry, was a delight! Just the right combination of fun, humor and safety. His Irish folklore, actual history and sense of humor were on point. The vehicle was comfortable and Henry kept it spotless. The itinerary and pace were just right. We feel like we got a great introduction to the country without one second of driving/navigating anxiety.

We added on extra activities of sea kayaking and biking in the Killarney National Forest. The guides for each of these were professional and knowledgeable. The activities were challenging and fun. We really enjoyed being able to do the typical touristy things and then be active and experience places and sights "off the beaten path" through hiking +/or walking. We loved every minute of it and can't wait to do another tour with Vagabond. It is a highly professional and reliable company. Our driver/tour guide Henry was top notch. I have already recommended a Vagabond or Driftwood tour to two friends and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to anyone! If you are looking for an easy, hassle free way to tour this beautiful country- while learning and relaxing, look no further. Vagabond is definitely the way to go!!

I'm 72 and my husband Monroe is 82, with some mobility issues. He walks with a cane, slowly and carefully, and we were not sure we'd be able to travel and enjoy a tour like this one. We read the reviews (thanks TRIP ADVISOR) and I wanted to see the real, rural County Cork, where my family came from so we took a chance. Megan's emails assured us that we could enjoy this easy going tour, but we had no idea how amazing it would be. We saw the wild west coast in a comfy van with people we hope we'll see again - we became a kind of family as we shared fine hotels, great food, and great pubs and laughs along the way. One of our most amazing experiences was going to a working sheep ranch in Kerry and watching the owner's Border Collies herd and run 60 or so sheep up and down the hills by voice and gesture command alone. Many many wonderful memories of the gracious people of Ireland and our tour "familiy" and Damien, who looked after my somewhat disabled 82 year Monroe. He had a great time and so did I. :)

Hello Timeswingedchariot - It sounds like our Drfitwood tour was ideal as it is a slower pace to our Vagabond Tours and allows lots of free time too. We are very happy to hear that your husband Monroe got a lot from the tour also. The working sheep dog demonstration is amazing, those dogs are so well trained! Thank you for your review. Enjoy your memories of Ireland and Vagabond Tours, regards, Rob Rankin.

It's hard to get around in this country. Driving on the left is just the beginning. We did the 8 day Vagabond, down through the south to Galway. Made all sorts of trips, mostly hikes for us, although some folks did bikes and kayak excursions given the chance. Our guide, Henry, was phenomenal, although friends of mine who did a Driftwood say that theirs was the best. Methinks all the guides must be the best. Given that a guide can make or break a trip, that speaks to the overall quality. Anyhow, I can't imagine a better introduction to Ireland, and can't recommend it highly enough. BTW, stay at the Grand Canal Hotel, where they pick you up and drop you off. It's very nice, and only about 10 minutes from the center of town on foot.

If you're really not up to 2 hours or so walking at a time, on a regular basis, on occasionally difficult terrain, do the Driftwood. This one is slightly vigorous, and if you're not up for it, you won't enjoy it.

Hi Jim, You are our very first reviewer of the season!! Thank you for such a wonderful one. Vagabond Adventures are a lot more fast paced and active, good to hear you enjoyed the hikes. It is so much fun to get outdoors in Ireland and experience nature. We do have the best guides who love Ireland. Hope to see you again sometime. Regards, Rob Rankin.
