I stayed here for 3 nights with my 8yr old. We had a great time. Hotel is lovely, nice spacious and clean rooms. Pool is nice, all the staff at the pool and leisure area were nice and friendly. The food is great. We had our dinner in the Ivy bar, the staff were all lovely. A big thank you to Anthony who looked after us when we dined at the ivy bar. Breakfast at the Rowan was delicious. All the staff at the reception desk were all very helpful and polite. A big shout out to Veronica and all the other ladies who ran a wonderful kids club. From art and crafts, fun and games and movies, my daughter had a fabulous time. Thank you. I will definitely be booking another stay at Ashdown park hotel. Great hotel and very child friendly

Shambles of a hotel. This is our second time to book here- the first time we booked, we arrived to check in and were told that they actually didn't have a room for us and we would have to move to their sister hotel. It wouldn't have been a huge issue only that there was a large group of us after booking the Ashdown for a small get together, so this made it quite inconvenient for us. Anyway, this weekend we decided to give the Ashdown another chance. We were checked in by reception and we asked if we needed to reserve a table for dinner. The receptionist told us that we didn't need to reserve it, just tell them in the restaurant that we are residents. So we went up to the room - it was stinking of cigarette smoke so back to reception and they changed us to another room. The other room was fine, but freezing cold and no heating on. So we figured out how to turn on the heating, and left the room for dinner. We were greeted by a man at the door of the restaurant who asked us if we had a reservation - we explained the lady at reception told us we didn't need one and to let them know we were residents. This man either clearly dislikes his job or he was having an extremely bad day. He grunted at us to follow him, walked over to a table with 3 chairs, and flung one of the chairs over to another table, telling us to sit down. A young waitress took our order of food and drinks. After half an hour there were no sign of even the drinks coming (the restaurant was in no way overly busy) so we asked the girl about the drinks. She told us they were ready at the bar but she had to wait for the barman to tell her it was OK to bring them down. So after another 10 minutes we went to the bar and just got 2 drinks ourself and said we would just take the other drinks too, whenever they would come out. Our food arrived out and was very good, we really enjoyed it. We had been hoping to have a few drinks in the bar that evening, but the original drinks still hadn't arrived so we just went up and paid. I. an understand that since the pandemic, getting staff is an issue for everyone in the hospitality issue, but I honestly couldn't believe the amount of staff walking around clearly doing nothing. Food was great the next morning, except for the Karen in charge in the restaurant- so so ignorant. Thankfully breakfast was saved by another waitress (a very nice blonde lady) and we enjoyed it after. We did complain upon check out about the service, the receptionist apologised but did not offer any kind of discount etc. We were not the only people complaining, another women in front of us also had issues and had to complain to management. I would not recommend this hotel for any kind of stay.
