Stayed at the Ballinahoun House this summer on a family holiday. Stayed two nights at the very start of our trip. Could not ask for a better experience. Mary and Thomas were the most gracious of hosts and went out of their ways to make our stay enjoyable...breakfast was amazing and filling and tea time in the parlor was very relaxing. The rooms were clean and cozy and the bathrooms clean and just what was needed. I would recommend this to anyone, couples or families and look forward to going back.

Room Tip: Wifi is not as strong in older parts of the house, but why do you need WIFI when on holiday anyway!

Didn't believe places or people like this existed. Right from the start Mary made the booking simple via email, and at a fantastic price not matched by online agents, book direct it is worth it. First impressions on arrival were absolutely astounding, fittings and furnishings are definitely 5*, breakfast is unbelievable in quality choice and quantity.
The truly outstanding feature of the stay was Mary herself, nothing is too much trouble and she goes well beyond the realms of a host to make your stay enjoyable, you are one of the family during your stay. As we were visiting for a family funeral and didn't know the area Mary drove us and wouldn't take no for an answer, and she provided a packed breakfast on the last morning as we were leaving at 5am and we wouldn't allow her to get up to cook which she offered to do. This is 5* hotel comfort and amenities at B&B prices. We WILL be coming back !!!!

Room Tip: Email Mary direct to discuss

My husband, nine month old daughter and I spent 3 very happy nights at the glorious Ballinahoun bed and breakfast.
Our host Mary went out of her way to make us comfortable, even babysitting for no charge and dropping my husband and I back and forth to a local restaurant so we could have dinner with friends. The decor and landscaping of the house is gorgeous and the warmth of Mary and her family's hospitality made it a truly magical stay. Her breakfast and teas meant we were full up for days and she was full of local knowledge and thoughtful suggestions of what we might enjoy doing in the area. Really couldn't recommend it highly enough, we will definitely be back!

While I haven't stayed in a B&B for a long number of years, this stay in Ballinahoun was wonderful.
We were actually going to a wedding in Gorey (about 20km away) and decided not to avail of the expensive Hotel charge, so we searched for this type of accomodation nearby, and very glad we did too!.

Having made the mistake of trusting Google maps for directions (which were wrong), we rang Mary the B&B owner for clarify the directions and since we were actually quite near she insisted "I'll put the kettle on" for your arrival.

The house itself is beautiful, built to match the surrounding countryside, at the end of a long driveway, it strikes as an idyll of peace welcome.

The promised tea/coffee etc. was ready for us along with a warm welcome.
We had to be at the wedding within an hour and Mary very kindly insisted on giving us a lift to the Hotel.
She then gave me a number for the local taxi, and in fact in the course of the evening texted with to enquire as how our night was going, and offering another number if needed (which it very much was, as most taxis including the Hotel one either didn't know where the B&B was, or simply weren't interested, and made that quite clear in the rudest of fashions).
Back to the house. Our room was extremely comfortable and bright.
Breakfast next morning, was very plentiful with a full range of fare and high quality served with a smile, with 2nd helpings if required. In fact some hotels would not have offered the variety. With our hostess and her Daughter serving in an attentive but subtle fashion.

I can only finish by firstly thanking Mary for a genuine warm and sincere welcome and (albeit) short stay, which I would have no hesitation in repeating and recommending.

My only advise for any visitor would be to make sure to get the directions from the hostess, and if having to use a taxi, make sure to get a number from Mary also.

Room Tip: I'm sure all rooms are equally comfortable.
