Appalling behavior.

The below is an email that I sent to Marlfield house multiple time on the past few weeks without a response.

My husband and I travelled from Australia to attend the wedding of my niece on May 30th.

Our family group booked 7 rooms.

Firstly, the staff at Marlfield House where fantastic, we had excellent service, amazing food and our room was very special.

Secondly, as you know there was an incident which was unexpected.

I work in hospitality in Melbourne and have done so for the last 25 years and I have never witnessed what occurred in response to the unfortunate incident that occurred.

• I saw and heard Laura telling my niece “your party is over” then walking off, cutting off the music and closing the bar.
• Laura refused to speak to my sister (mother of the bride) this was extremely disrespectful, dismissive, and rude.
• There was no professionalism in response to the incident.
• We were not informed by any staff member what was going on.
• A list of residents was printed off and our names confirmed, we felt like school children being sent to our rooms.
• No apology was given as to the closure of the bar to residents.
• How many security staff were on duty? only one we were told by a staff member.
• Staff on duty the following day had not been informed of what had occurred, this shows a complete lack of communication from Laura to her key staff.

The incident should have been diffused and the offenders swiftly removed without any interruption the other guests.

Laura clearly has no experience in dealing with these situations and has zero people skills, she is not suited to hospitality.

I cannot describe the heartbreak that my niece and her husband have endured, their wedding was ruined by Laura and her ill-equipped skills dealing with these incidents.

I trust that you can put protocols in place for when these incidents occur, I am sure they have happened in the past and will happen again in the future.

I strongly advise that Laura accepts her error in judgement and sends an apology to my niece, to date they still have not heard from her directly.

Your business will not benefit from bad reviews.

I await your response.

Regards.

We stayed for a one night break for a special occasion. We had an amazing room. Dinner and breakfast was wonderful and the staff were very friendly and accommodating- a shout out to Dawn who was exceptionally nice. This was not our first time at Marlfield and it will not be the last.

To start, I would say that we would probably return to Marifield, however, there were some concerns. The house is gorgeous, as is the surrounding area. Our room must have been right next to either a kitchen or staff/work room, as we were woken at 5.40am and the noise continued from then. The duvet was too heavy so we went from too cold if you pulled it down, to too hot if you covered yourself, which all led to a very poor night's sleep.

The food was, overall, excellent. Our table was served by almost every staff member but the lady (possibly owner) never smiled once nor asked how we were enjoying ourselves. Disappointing as it prides itself on being a family business! Our potatoes arrived after our mains were finished and the next morning our toast arrived after our breakfast was finished. Our bill also included drinks we hadn't consumed. It was as if no one took responsibility for their tables. A bit better organization could have prevented this which is a let down as the good was really good.

Finally, the price. At almost €600 for our 1 night stay (all in), I don't feel it was value for money to be honest and would expect much better service & from for this price.

Room tip: Ask for quiet room.

Laura and Margaret, My first visit to Marlfield House Hotel and I am completely blown away by the amazing experience. This luxurious boutique hotel is easily one of Irelands gems and the best I have stayed in.
Thank you for your kind hospitality, the luxurious bedrooms, the excellent food and the wonderful tranquillity of the stunning gardens.

Fantastic experience, staff were so friendly and helpful.
There was great attention to detail. Extremely relaxing stay. Use of mobile phones in the communal areas of the house was discouraged which added to the relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful kitchen garden.
