Visited here with family needed two family rooms but was a mix up with the booking in the hotel, the receptionist wasn’t very friendly at all, obviously didn’t want to be there or deal with the issue. Went to the side office and came back out but said very little. Got sorted after rudely being told the room is not ready but to being given another room. (The comment of the room not ready was not needed)
Got to our rooms which were fine nothing fancy but clean, or room was set up for 5 which we didn’t need wile or other party’s room was set up for 3 which we needed while they needed the 5, called exception but nothing done (no extra bedding or attempt to get their room set up). The night team did bring up bedding after we called them.
The bathrooms need a bit of a updated while the shower water power was too strong and painful for kids.
Dinner was ok, bland menu, very expensive for kids but food was ok with breakfast being nice and lovely staff. Think she was a manager.
Over all nice hotel for a stopover but highly let down by the front office member of staff who did put a bad start to the stay.

We are just back from a mid week break in the Maldron Hotel. We had a fantastic stay, the rooms were large and the beds were extremely comfortable. The food served in the restaurant at night was excellent, a great choice with huge portions. We used the swimming pool during the day and everything was well organised and the changing rooms were spotless. We had breakfast each morning which was served by friendly staff who were very efficient and catered to our needs. Reception were very helpful at checkin and recommended local attractions. Will definitely return with my family.

Decided to go on a last minute trip over the bank holiday weekend (Sunday & Monday). Called the hotel (stayed before and always enjoyed) and dealt with Theresa who sorted everything we needed within minutes. On arrival Theresa had our room keys ready including our breakfast, dinner, gym and pool times.

Food was delicious and the hotel and staff attention to Covid-19 precautions is second to none. Felt very welcomed and safe. Recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a leisure break or to do business.

Was here for 1 night with 2 friends, the reception staff were lovely and very friendly. The room was very clean and spacious, the price for the room was fantastic, especially since there is a pool and gym also. We ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel and the food was lovely, very big breakfast but the service in the restaurant was a disgrace, when we went in for dinner we were seated very quickly, there were maybe 4 other tables occupied so it was quiet, 3 waitresses on and our order wasn't taken for 15 minutes, at the end of our meal we were waiting so long for the bill I had to go up and ask for it. Then for breakfast my 2 friends had finished breakfast but I was nearly finished and the waitress came over, didn't say a word and took our plates including mine while I was still eating then didn't come back with our bill so again we had to go up and ask for it, we did try to get their attention but failed. I would come back to this hotel but I would eat out rather then eat at the hotel.

Dear MaurCorigliano,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am happy you found our reception staff lovely and friendly and our rooms spacious and clean. I am also delighted you found the food was up to standard. We pride ourselves on offering a fair price for our guests in Portlaoise so i am delighted that you have mentioned the fantastic price you received.

I want to apologise for the service you received in the restaurant. Our staff are working hard to adhere to the new government guidelines but unfortunately mistakes can and do occur. I hope you will return to the hotel if you are back in the area again.

Sincerely

Lisa Sinnott

Stayed here for one night after visiting Cork. Teresa in reception was excellent from check in to checking out , a painless experience. Made great recommendations and all staff we engaged with were excellent, from the restaurant to the health club. With the way things currently are , all as a family felt very safe. Great location for local touring.
