Friendly hosts and nice atmosphere in the bar in the evenings. Good location for driving around kerry. Basic accommodation but warm and clean. Car park gets full in the evenings as lots of the locals drive to the bar too for a full evening of socialising.
We're just back from a three night stay at The Climbers Inn, having gone to Kerry for a charity climb of Carrauntoohill. This Inn is has an old school Irish pub, with shop and post office attached, and the perfect base to hike and explore Kerry. The public areas are clean and homely, rooms are basic, snug, and spotless, the beds and pillows are extremely comfortable and shower piping hot and powerful - well needed after our torrential day on the mountain. The food was surprisingly good, we had a mixture of dishes from burgers, steak sandwiches and curries, washed down with creamy Guinness and Carlsberg. The real jewel in the crown of this place is the people, both staff and the "natives" The Bar and kitchen staff couldn't do enough for us, they were so efficient, friendly and helpful. We missed breakfast one morning and were asked by two separate staff members if we'd like toast, yoghurt or toasted sandwiches. In the end we decided on coffees and snacks, which were given FOC because we missed brekkie. Now that's real Irish hospitality, and something you wouldn't get in a bigger chain hotel. We were treated to chats and banter with the locals in the evening which was great craic. If you stay at The Climbers Inn say hi to Patrick and the lads for us !!! Una, Claire, Ruth & Nicola xx
I had the pleasure of dining here Saturday evening, we were spoiled in all aspects of the menu. From starter to dessert I can honestly say I was highly impressed with the standard and quality of food that was served. Everything was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Well done to all involved in making our dining experience such a memorable one. We will definitely be back!
We're all a bit nervous eating out at the moment. Waitresses wore face shields. Good table separation. Friendly, efficient staff.
Good quality Chardonnay by the glass, others had beer on tap etc.
I loved the Cod, chips and mushy peas so much so that I had the same meal on the 2nd visit. Others loved the hake and chips, and the steak.
Those who had the beefburger (didn't taste homemade) or the chicken on skewers were very disappointed.
One person had a dessert. Rhubarb crumble and custard, which was delivered as rhubarb crumble and ice cream (with no advance notice). And a sherry trifle was seriously disappointing.
grand place for a pint and some food. we'd a large hiking group all came away satisfied. I'd some great striploin, cooked to perfection, succulent and flavourful though one other who had it found it tough. have some covid precautions in place but we left before got too busy. have stayed before and found that grand also.
