We're just back from a three night stay at The Climbers Inn, having gone to Kerry for a charity climb of Carrauntoohill. This Inn is has an old school Irish pub, with shop and post office attached, and the perfect base to hike and explore Kerry. The public areas are clean and homely, rooms are basic, snug, and spotless, the beds and pillows are extremely comfortable and shower piping hot and powerful - well needed after our torrential day on the mountain. The food was surprisingly good, we had a mixture of dishes from burgers, steak sandwiches and curries, washed down with creamy Guinness and Carlsberg. The real jewel in the crown of this place is the people, both staff and the "natives" The Bar and kitchen staff couldn't do enough for us, they were so efficient, friendly and helpful. We missed breakfast one morning and were asked by two separate staff members if we'd like toast, yoghurt or toasted sandwiches. In the end we decided on coffees and snacks, which were given FOC because we missed brekkie. Now that's real Irish hospitality, and something you wouldn't get in a bigger chain hotel. We were treated to chats and banter with the locals in the evening which was great craic. If you stay at The Climbers Inn say hi to Patrick and the lads for us !!! Una, Claire, Ruth & Nicola xxMore
