Food is nice, curry sauce a bit spicy and chicken balls were well overdone the chicken was so chewy so they weren't eaten.

I was a regular in this restaurant but stopped going many years ago after some bad experiences.
It would be unfair to bring these up in detail so I won't.

We were invited to dinner for my father in laws birthday last week and they decided this is where they wanted to dine.

On entering the restaurant I couldn't help but notice the loud noise.
There was a particularly loud party in the restaurant which wasn't helped by the very low ceilings.

How is this the restaurants fault ? You may ask.
Well they've had the same low ceilings for 20 years so maybe raise them ! Or stick up acoustic tiles.

Either way we got on with ordering our food and this is where i was really let down.
The Mandarin Castle has adopted the much hated practice of charging extra for rice.
This is fine when your out on your own as a couple but not when your being treated to dinner.
There was seven of us and nobody wanted to order rice as it was an extra cost.
Eventually we discretely asked our waitress how many portions of rice would do seven of us and she said five portions.
Five portions was not enough and we all got what appeared to be a sample of rice .

The food was really nice but completely ruined by the lack of rice.
Why oh why would a restaurant do this.
Charge extra and give the rice with the meal.

The Mandarin may think this is not very important but they have again lost customers .
There are seven of us who will not return.

Lastly we ordered ice cream and a cheese cake.
The ice cream was served in a drinking glass ( I kid you not ).
The cheese cake didn't arrived and we had to ask twice before it came.
At that stage everyone had finished their glass of ice cream.
Not acceptable.

Well Mandarin, you lost us many years ago and we gave you a second chance and you lost us again.

We won't be back.

We stopped here for a family meal and were not disappointed at all. The service was excellent and individual needs regarding the menu were no trouble at all. The menu was varied and the food quality was also top class. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. There is a car park next to the restaurant. I would certainly dine here again

We were staying nearby and were referred by family who had eaten here.
We were looking for a quiet relaxing evening and that's what we got.
The service was great, the staff being helpful and patient...it all looked good so we took a time to order!
There were no disappointments in the food whatsoever and we will go again.
Just a tiny criticism was that there were few desserts available...however that was probably beneficial considering how much we had already eaten!
Highly recommended...
