This is a fun paddle, with the caveats given in previous reviews. It's beautiful and mild and scenic, but it is also popular and there was definitely a party crowd present so if you wanted a quiet, smoke and booze-free float you were out of luck at points.
We didn't mind the basic facilities, but we found the service and equipment marginal all around. Sure, they cheerfully took our money, but despite having called ahead, staff were in no hurry to get our kayaks loaded up or to transport us to the drop off. We received no basic instructions.
No options for choice of kayak were offered. No attempt was made to fit the kayaks to the participants - this resulted in one of our paddlers having significant difficulty with a completely undersized kayak. Another had to opt out before we started because the bare-bones sit-on-top kayaks offered no back support (the only seated kayak loaded on the trailer was broken.) The kayaks suffered from a lack of tie-downs and "dry" compartments.
The most experienced kayaker with us on this day said that there were better, more well-equipped outfitters on this river. We'd gladly have paid a few more bucks to have a safer, more enjoyable experience.
The shuttle drivers did their best given what appeared to be a complete lack of training and experience, and did make clear what to look for in terms of the take out point on this 10 mile paddle.
What I learned: Talk to an experienced paddler about local outfitter options.
