Description: Nestled within the cradle of North Augusta's ambitious and visionary Hammond's Ferry riverfront development, Manuel's Bread Cafe combines the storied tradition of a French bakery, pastry and food shop with an unforgettable casual dining experience. From his hometown of Lyon, the Mecca of French cuisine, culinary wizard Chef Manuel Verney-Carron uses his exceptional artistry to extend delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner, all guaranteed to delight any palette. The seasonal menu features Manuel's twist on exquisite time-honored French dishes laden with organic produce grown from the fertile soil of our very own Blue Clay Farms, within the partition of Hammond's Ferry. The Cafe is also presenting daily "Plats Du Jour", as well as menu items available as carry-out fare for those who wish to sample the wondrous food "on the go" or in the comfort of their own home. The Cafe also offers a storefront with freshly baked bread, pastries and other items.

One of our favorite places to eat and meet up with friends. The menu is small, but they always have a LOT of off menu specials and they are worth trying! On our last visit we had kangaroo. Yes, kangaroo!!! It was delicious. Always fresh, tasty, creative and fun. The desserts are also to die for. We had the caramel cake, grasshopper cake, carrot cake and the oreo cooking cheesecake this week. Not a bite was left! Friendly staff and great beer and wine list too!

Located in a new urbanism development, Manuel's looks very inviting. The area is a lovely place to walk -- down to the Savannah River and back along tree-lined streets to pass the Blue Clay Farm where Manuel's grows some of its produce (note for kids: there are goats and chickens there). Manuel's outdoor tables have pillows on the seats and probably are lovely to dine at on a cool evening but not on a muggy July early evening when I was there. The menu is full of great-sounding stuff -- I had the grilled salmon salad, only there was no salmon so I tried chicken instead, and the Caribbean salsa was a bit vinegary. It's nominally a French restaurant, but no baguette in sight (can't imagine a crunch baguette, anyway, in this the S.C. humidity)...the bread was made on site and was good, with rosted tomato and mozzarella baked into it. Service was very friendly.

We have made several visits to Manuel’s since we moved to the Augusta area. Manuel’s is located in the Hammond Ferry area, within the sleepy residential streets. Outside seating is recommended to take in the warm breezes of the south. Inside seating tends to be crowded and cramped, as the storefront has limited seating.
The menu will vary per night, ranging from seafood to steak options. My favorites surround the pasta creations that Manuel will offer. The peppered alfredo sauce on fresh pasta is ample in size to share.
Appetizers are unique, with different spices and sauces to share with a group.
Service is always attentive, and offer up many suggestions to make your night relaxed and memorable.

We've been to Manuel's several times and had mixed experiences. We had a party of 6 for Sunday brunch today. We had reservations and were seated outdoors on a blazing hot day. It took the server an hour to get us our food. The "mangosa" didn't taste anything like mangos. I ordered a relatively small (but thick) pork chop and fruit salad pictured below for $13.95. Left hungry and a bill for $115. Such a rip-off and slow service we won't be going back.

We sat outside on a warm Tuesday night - fortunately one of two ceiling fans on the patio was working! Food was delicious and service was excellent! First time for me to dine here; friends have enjoyed this lovely place often. Great location.
