My Wife and I, and our older children (18,18,20) stayed in the Mariner Building. We had an Oceanfront 3 bedroom unit room 721. Check in was only around 5 minutes(we arrived on a Saturday around 2pm).
Unit was large and we had a nice view of the Ocean. Part of the beach was obstructed as there is a building in front of the Mariner Bldg called the Schooner Building. The third building (Pinnacle) was adjacent to us.

Several pools and lazy rivers (which appear larger online than in real life). Area of improvement would be greater enforcement of rules saying you need to stay in your tube, as most of the time several children were just swimming freely in the lazy river despite several signs stating the rules.

The only real negative I had all week was one of the elevators kept going in and out of service, making it slow to go up & down at times. House keeping was mostly satisfactory, but hit or miss on some days. Some days our beds were made, some not.. Trash was removed, some days not.. generally satisfactory service overall.

We ordered food in a few times, and ate out a few times. Not a lot around the hotel within walking distance. Several shops with resort type pricing. There is a food lion supermarket within walking distance of about 5 blocks and across the highway with realistic everyday pricing. One miniature Golf Course within walking distance that had a Dairy Queen adjacent to it. We enjoyed playing a round there $8.75 per person for 18 holes.

We ate at the onsite bar/restaurant called the Crows Nest. Food was ok, Resort pricing ($10 burger). We also ate breakfast at the onsite breakfast buffet . Food was good, selection was adequate but not expansive, friendly staff.

Broadway At The Beach is about a 10 minute ride by car from the hotel, as is the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk (which is not a boardwalk in the traditional sense)..it just a group of shops on the street along the water and adjacent streets.

We did eat at the Second Ave Pier, which was nice ($150 for 5).

Wifi spotty and you need to pay close attention as you get disconnected and must reconnect manually at times.

Overall, we are looking to stay here next year. Staff is friendly and end of season rates are very attractive (late August).

Room Tip: Higher rooms in Mariner Bldg...Less Obstruction By Schooner Building

We have been staying at Compass Cove for years. The staff is very friendly. Especially Jennifer in the Compass Rose Restaurant, every year she always remembers us and we are greeted with a friendly hug. She is one of the reasons we keep coming back.

Great family place. Room needs a little update.
Our sliding door gave us a problem. Called maintenance
And they came up to check out right away.
Plenty of space to sit by all pools. Game room
Should be a bigger area and more games for kids.

This hotel is right on the beach with great views...this was our first visit and we enjoyed our stay..the staff was great and very attentive..the location is great and the amenities are wonderful...many pools, restaurants, lazy rivers, hot tubs etc....there were a few cons::: there isn't enough parking, room keys kept deactivating, the room needed some updating...bathroom was a little small and check in was very long....the property is well maintained though...the resort does have kitchenettes if needed which we utilized(full fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker etc..)We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: stay in the Pinnacle building, higher floors.

This is our second year at Compass Cove and we could not ask for a better trip. The staff was awesome. The pools were clean and well taken care of as well as the grounds. The room was perfect. We would like to the visitors taking care of their children a little more instead of letting them running around all over. However we know that is not the hotel's responsibility. Other than that we couldn't have asked for a better vacation spot.
