If you live to bike or walk by the beach, close to nature, away from the crowds, then this is the place for you. The winter estate of the Huntington family, the empty rooms of their castle still remain. The courtyard area is used for weddings.
Crossing the marsh,You may see an alligator warming in the sun,or one of the many birds looking for food at low tide.
There is a $5/ person day pass.

This is the gem of the area. The beach is wonderful they allow dogs on the beach all times of the year. Also Atalaya is a nice place to visit for the history of the area. The walks are wonderful around Atalaya. You can spend hours there relaxing. It is a definite place to visit when in the Myrtle Beach area.

At Huntington Beach State Park, you'll find the Atalaya Castle. Look for special exhibits/events at the castle. The grounds and castle make for an interesting addtion to your day over at Brookgreen Gardens.

The beach at this state park is outstanding! With no buildings in site, this is quite a contrast to the rest of the grand strand. It can be quite windy out there, but otherwise this is one of the nicest stretch of beach in the state.

Been here several times and will be here again. Late October probably the best weather yet. While it can be unpredictable, it is far more temperate for out door activities. Been here in late spring and early fall and it tends to be very warm. Too warm for us. But with temps now in the mid 60’s to mid 70’s, it’s far more ‘user friendly’. As usual, the Park is spotlessly clean and well cared for. Staff super friendly and helpful. Still worried about the past ant issues we’ve had and are using diatomaceous earth around anything on the trailer that touches the ground. So far so good. Anyway, can’t say enough good about the park.
