This is a fascinating sister site to Brookgreen Gardens - the land for both was owned by the same family.
The house at HBSP is worth the tour, there is a nominal fee and you can upgrade to an audio tour for another couple of bucks.
I highly recommend that you take the time to go out to the beach and enjoy this great unspoiled spot. If the weather is conducive, take your swimsuit and a chair and just relax.
There is a fee to get into the park, I think it was $5 per person if you don't have a pass or membership.

Want to slow it down, visit Hunting Beach State Park.

Plenty of parking, great beach, picnic area, hiking/biking trails, and Historic Home that only charges a couple of bucks for a guided tour.

We spent about 2 hours, but you could easily spend the day.

There is a charge to get in...the beaches are nice, hiking trails as well and endless birds and water fowl. Boardwalk extends over the wetlands for a nice walk and alligator sighting......all in all a nice day.

This is a beautiful beach, usually uncrowded but the lower end doesn't have a lifeguard which is okay except when sharks are around. We like to walk the beach down to the breakwater. there are trails if you like to take walks. When the weather is warm you can usually see alligators from the causeway which is a good place to walk and see a variety of birds.

Beautiful park with much to do for everyone. Nice short trails, lots of birdlife, beautiful clean beaches, clean bathrooms and nice picnic area. You have to bring your own food - the store is focused on campers
