What a delightful surprise, just 15 minutes from Garden City.

Totally worth $5 entry fee to access stunning beach. Beach was nearly empty (Boxing Day) even though campground seemed fairly full.

Excellent gift shop with locally made items at reasonable prices. Would definitely revisit and strongly recommend to others!

Keep your eyes open on Hwy 17 so you don't miss the left turn just before Brookgreen Gardens (when traveling south).

If you want nature and a great camping experience, this is your place. Also - close to all the Myrtle Beach attractions. Atalaya is so nice, many trails to walk, a photographers dream with all the scenery and wildlife. The park staff works hard to keep everything well maintained. Brookgreen Gardens right across the street cannot be beat. Seeing the Night of 1000 Candles is magical.

This is a rarity, especially in a State Park. The castle is hauntingly beautiful and the story behind it is incredible.

If I could only use 1 word it would be unspoiled. This state park should be a model for others to emulate. There are great photography opportunities throughout the park - whether watching the many species of birds, catching a shot of alligators, or the beautiful coastline, it's all so accessible. There is a nice bike trail, clean rest rooms, cool interactive displays, boardwalks to the beach & plentiful parking. I love being able to bring my dogs all year long.

The huge beach in practically empty in December. Walk the beach, pick up shells, and walk the nature trails. Visit the piers and learn more about the coastlands.
