We stayed at MainStay Suites for two weeks while finalizing our move to Greenville area.

The typical customer for this property is a male businessman, and many of those typical customers are from outside the USA, employed at a couple of the major employers in the area. While there were families at the property, they were in the distinct minority. I make this observation at the top of the review, because a family staying here might want to be prepared for the breakfast area or social area by the pool to be populated by conversations in German, French and other languages rather than the more common English or Spanish. We found the customers all friendly, but you might be less likely to have a casual conversation than in another hotel.

My wife and I are very cautious regarding hotel bathtubs, since so many are slip-and-fall hazards when used to shower. We requested an accessible room, because these rooms often have actual showers that are easier to use. When we requested an accessible room, we were given a choice and a chance to visit a couple rooms before making our choice. The suite is divided between a smaller 'living room', a kitchette, bathroom, and a bedroom. In our suite, at least, the air conditioning unit was in the living area, which was nice in that the noise of the unit was not adjacent to the bed, as it is in many typical hotel rooms. The kitchette had a microwave, a full refrigerator with separate freezer compartment, sink, dishwasher, and a 'warmplate'. I say warmplate because when we attempted to boil water for spaghetti it took almost a half hour to bring the water to a boil. I am sure this is a safety issue. Don't expect to prepare gourmet meals, but it does work. The supplied dishes and cutlery were adequate for two people.

The room was clean upon our arrival. Understand that for the long term customer, the room is not cleaned every day. You can fetch linen and towel changes between cleanings.

The staff was remarkably friendly. Daniel checked us in, and seemed to be everywhere on weekdays. He went out of his way to make my wife and me feel very welcome and important The housekeeping staff was also exceptional and hard working.

The offered continental breakfast is very basic. I think this is an area where the hotel could provide some improvement. We ended up cooking breakfast (slowly!) in our suite.

Recommended for longer stays. If your stay is longer than a few days, ask for the corporate rate for significant savings.

A bit marginal for a single night as it is a bit convoluted to get to this hotel (though it is located on I-85), may not be as convenient as other properties would be, and does not have a continental breakfast on a par with many other properties at a similar price point (for a single night stay).

Room Tip: Hotel is close to I85 and will probably be noisy. Quietest rooms might be facing the parking lot on the northwest corner of the hotel.

We stayed here during the great American eclipse. Pros- Has a kitchenette in the room, rooms were big and had a social area next to pool for grilling out. Staff were great and helpful and made us feel welcome. Cons- Poor drainage in bathroom, tub nor toilet drained well several guests were using the public bathroom. Breakfast has very little to offer and runs out quickly. Restaurants, especially the pizza places, close early (like 7pm) and are not open on Sunday's. Also, do not clean daily, have to request it before 9 or room wont get cleaned nor will towels be refreshed, thought front desk will get you towels. Would stay here again.

We stayed 1 night (7/13/17) --- and loved it. The staff was attentive, helpful, and very friendly. The room, while not large, had a nice kitchenette, eat/work table, comfortable big bed, a flatscreen TV, and a nice clean restroom. It was everything we asked for. And our free breakfast was more than adequate: we made waffles!

Once again, I was in Greenville South Carolina for a church conference--the room was clean and to my liking. I stayed in a larger room before, but 1 wasn't available at this time. I will stay at this property again, and look forward to booking when I am in town.

At check in the guy was very friendly and professional. The room was okay for the rate. Just one thing, online it says Queen suite with 2 pull outs but of course it is not. The room was okay, it was clean. My only real complaint is the free breakfast. Yes, there is breakfast, and yes it is free but it was far from decent. They should state free continental if even that! There were a few muffins that were hard and mini cinnamon rolls that were hard as well, and coffee that wasn't hot and not fresh, and that was it. Room: okay, staff: very good, breakfast: needs improvement.
