Description: Slightly North of Broad is a Lowcountry bistro that brings together an abundance of local ingredients and thoughtful, expert presentation with a friendly, contagious energy. Here the dining room is a natural extension of the kitchen, a place where culinary skill, a clever, considered wine program, warm service, and conversations meld together. Our local farmers, fishermen and producers are as integral to the food we make as they are to our place in this community.

This was our first stop on a recent visit to Charlestown, mostly because of anyone with the guts to call themselves SNOB must be good. And it is. Lunch, late in the typical timeframe but we sat at the kitchen table (bar) for a fun view of a working kitchen with no fuss, no muss - just churning out good food. The menu if varied enough for all (vegan included) yet simple enough to maintain standards.

Walked into a furnace like heat. The air conditioning was apparently out and we should have found another spot. But we choose SNOB because it was close to where we were sightseeing and there were people in our party that could not walk long distances. So we sat down and made the best of it. But the water and the drinks we were served were lukewarm. We had to ask for a glass full of ice. We try to be good sports but the night just felt off. The decor and feel of the space was a little cluttered and dark for my taste, the open kitchen was impressive, but all in all not a relaxing place to dine. Waiiter tried to get us excited about the food options and specials but it wasn’t a stand out service experience. It’s not really fine dining, it was much more casual than I was expecting. Our party enjoyed the scallops, and the charcuterie plate along with the carpaccio. The vegetarian in our group had a huge plate of assorted sides that were all delicious. The shrimp and grits did not get the rave review I was expecting from the person eating it. We were planning on enjoying dessert but the warm room was a dealbreaker. Walking back out into the cool evening was the best part of the experience. Regretted my choice in a city full of great options. Even taking out the uncomfortable air temperature, nothing we had would entice me to return.

Got right in because we went at 5pm...otherwise they were booked. Fabulous food with great portions and our server (Mike) was wonderful. It was well worth the money and overall great experience.

We ordered Southern Fried Chicken with Benne Seed Waffles and the Southern Medley. The food was good to very good but service was average. In a competitive food market, they are going to have to do better to get us back.
