Its just a neat old cemetary to drive around. Very old, sureal, and kind of spooky! Take time and read some of the headstones.

“Magnificent Old Cemetery”
Reviewed 26 March 2012

We wandered around this cemetery for hours, taking pictures and looking at the old headstones but still didn't see the entire cemetery. If you visit this cemetery, be sure to venture around to the back where the Smith monument is. Also check out the old mausoleums and get pictures of the beautiful old iron fencing. I've been to hundreds of cemeteries but this is one of my favorites, right along with Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington, NC.

“Just perfect.”

Everything a cemetary should be. Plenty of interesting monuments, a huge, live oak. Quiet, peaceful grounds.

“A Must-See While in Charleston”
Reviewed 18 March 2012

This was a beautiful cemetery for which I wish we had planned more time. Many historical gravestones here from confederate officers, to politicians, authors and poets: Josephine Lyons Pinckney (poet); William Aiken (US Congressman and SC Governor); H. L. Hunley and most of the crew of the Hunley (submarine of the civil war); Adm. Robert Bentham Simons (WWI and Pearl Harbor), and the list goes on and on. Before you visit, check out Magnolia Cemetery at http://www.findagrave.com/ Aside from all the history, the cemetery is simply beautiful to the eye. We were there in the Spring when many of the plants were in full bloom. We could have spent hours there!

“Final resting place is special”
Reviewed 14 March 2012

I would love to be buried here because generations to come would love to see the beautiful monuments, trees and flowers. Peaceful, respectful and a great place to teach youngsters about how to be so!
