The Timmerman trail is great for both hiking and biking. The trial is wide and well-kept. On my last hike, I saw an alligator (from a distance), numerous birds, and tracks of numerous animals. The views of the river and wetlands is inspiring.

These are FREE historical guided tours along the Timmermans Trail. They have several tours every Saturday in the spring and fall. I attended the 10 AM Battle of Congaree Creek. The guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. I enjoyed it so much I went back to the 6:30 pm Native American lantern tour the same day! Great parking for the event is at the tennis center (clean restrooms). The trail is well marked paved route along the beautiful wooded area of the Congaree creek and Old State Rd. For more details visit their facebook page. I discovered this on the freetimes events calendar. I attended with my BF, but this event is for everyone of all ages.

Wife and I just bicycled the Trail, didn't want to get off! Nice 7+mile ride, in a loop, connecting to 5 miles more going into "suburban" Columbia, SC - Being from DC, it's all rural/layed back/ and fun - Great creek-scape going into a path alongside a major river, the Congaree................alot of fun, and exercise

The updates on timmerman keep improving. A nice 3.5 mile loop or 6 mile out and back (onto riverwalk to state street) for running or biking. The cleanup after storms is slower than some of the other parks but hey, you're in the woods!

this is a wonderful trail ti walk. Nice paved trail makes for a delightful time. Easy to find with plenty of parking. A lot of history took place in this area. Wonderful nature- the trees and streams are nice. police call boxes along the trail for safety. there is a ramp for canoeing as well. Alligators have been seen.
