The day we were there was quite busy with many fishing. The paths were easy to follow and we chose the ocean view path. Not much sign of wildlife but spectacular views. A wonderful way to enjoy nature and get away from the crowds in Newport. The visitor center was helpful. Go there first to know what birds to look for on the trails.

While at the Newport Visitor center, one of the people giving advice mentioned this after we mentioned that we had completed the Cliff Walk. We found to be a much more impressive walk than the Cliff Walks. Definitely off the beaten path!

This is a great place for walking or jogging, going for a walk with friends or by yourself. The views are stunning. You can sometimes spot a deer.

I must say the vistas from this vantage point are magnificent. My husband and I walked with our grandson, (he was in the stroller), on a Sunday afternoon. There could not have been a more beautiful place to walk. But don't bring your dog as that is not allowed.

Beautiful location and views, easy trail loops for a leisurely stroll (1.5 mile Ocean View trail and 1.2 mile Flint Point trail), great for families (no dogs allowed, however). The parking lot did fill up quickly on this Saturday morning and we saw lots of folks getting fishing gear out for casting off the rocks (you could alternatively park at Second Beach and walk over). The Ocean View trail reminds me somewhat of the Marginal Way in Ogunquit with the rocky coastline and booming surf - looking like what I imagine the Marginal Way may have looked before it was paved and fenced. The visitor center was quite charming and informative as well, kind of like a small natural history museum (opens at 10AM; clean restrooms inside; tiny gift shop). It has a nice topographical map which displays the trails and surrounding area; displays of the wildlife endemic to the refuge; the geological origins of the site; and a history of the settlement of the area from native Americans to current Americans.
