We had a family lunch there because a family member had flown in from CA on a business trip and was leaving the next day. The meals we all had except for the cream of crab soup was great. The soup was way too salty my wife gave hers back. other than that I would recommend this is the place to go in Wrightsville

We recently had dinner at the John Wright Restaurant. We had made reservations, for an anniversary dinner, hoping for a nice, relaxing meal. Our waiter started off Ok - but once he took our order he seemed to forget we existed. He had other tables but we still saw him hanging around at times. A kitchen person delivered our salads and another kitchen person delivered our meals in quick succession. We never received a bread basket although we were told we would. Our water glasses were never refilled and we were never asked if we would like another drink, or if things were ok in general!. Again the waiter seemed to forget us. The management practice of having kitchen people deliver food might be good for the restaurant but it is not what is best for the customer. This limits the interaction between the waiter and the guest. Our needs were not met, nor were we given the opportunity to ask for anything. The food was OK- nothing great, nothing terrible and because of that the price was a little high. (With high prices we expect great! or at least memorable) Additionally, there was a wedding taking place upstairs and there is no insulation between the two floors. The acoustics are bad there to begin with , add to that a group of kids running around overhead and it sounded like a bowling alley was overhead. So, bad service + too loud + so-so food = we wont return or recommend!

Thanks for thinking of us for your special occasion but I'm sorry to hear about your visit. We rely on our support staff to assist servers and bartenders in food running and bussing as they have a large surface area to cover just themselves. I can see where this would limit your interaction and I apologize for that. The server should have checked with your during the meal and just been overall more attentive. I welcome you back and would like to try and make this up to you. Please feel free to e-mail molly@jwrpa.com

If considering this restaurant, stick to the outdoor pizza patio. The pizza is reasonably good and the atmosphere is fun. Do not eat indoors. The food is far from fresh. Their menu claims several locally sourced items however all of our food tasted as though it came straight from a box in the freezer or a can. Sauces were heavy and congealed, veggie sides rubbery, meat dry (amazing feat given steak was drowning in sauce) and every single item was seasoned with a toxic level of salt. The food is what you expect from a bad diner, not fine dining. If you want farm to table, stick with Wynridge or Woodberry Kitchen.

I'm happy to hear you were able to try both of our menu's yet sad to hear that you didn't enjoy your experience with our formal dinner menu. One of our produce farmers actually does work with Wyndridge as well. We are very passionate about our farm fresh food and our dedication further instills that.

"At John Wright Restaurant, we always do our best to provide the freshest ingredients possible. We take pride in the quality of our food by purchasing from local farmers. Our personal relationship with our farmers, ensures that our products are not processed or pre-made. We strive to provide a unique dining experience with exceptional service."

I hope you spoke to a manager while you were here so they could offer you a substitution. We welcome you back to give us another try and make it "Wright"

Good wood fired pizza. Nice atmosphere. Service a little slow but it was a busy night. Amazing view of the river. Worthy stop.

Service is excellent! Venue is beautiful! It must be at least 80 degrees in here! People are leaving because of the heat. Beautiful reception except for the heat in here

I appreciate you taking the time to comment on our service and venue! I apologize for the malfunctioning air conditioner in the River Room over the weekend. I can assure you we are going to take care of the Bride & Groom and make this right.
