In the site of the old Nuddi Thai another Sushi restaurant opened recently. Thi one advertised Japanese and Thai cuisine and we reluctantly reserved dinner there on a Friday night because it was convenient.
What an incredible pleasant surprise. It's been quite awhile since I have found a restaurant so friendly and delicious. Because we had made reservations the lovely host/waitress started us off with a free Crispy salmon roll to share, this turned out to be heavenly and a sample of what was to come. After the wonderful tempura crunch the roll melted in your mouth like warm cream and salmon. Our orders consisted of the special Mango chicken, a special tune roll, Pad Tofu Thai and a sashimi Bento box. each dinner started out with a standard Japanese salad, mine also had a very nice Miso soup. Every dish, including the seaweed salad was perfectly prepared. and quite plentiful for a Japanese restaurant. Service was friendly at all times and while there was a bit of a wait for the main entrees, we were in no hurry and clearly every dish had been painstakingly prepared and served as soon as ready. Quite a difference from the more mediocre Japanese place we had recently eaten at in Freeport.
Tsunami appears to be owned or operated by a very nice young couple, the chef came out to an adjoining table to explain to the couple which fish were on the sushi boat they ordered and discussed the pros and cons of fresh squid with them..
An unexpected but great treat, next store to Gemmelli's which was the next stop for gellati,
