Yes it's authentic, but you can ask them to tame the spice and it worked out nicely. We have some in the group that could not eat any spice, gluten and peanut allergy.
We were so happy we could be accommodated with our special dietary needs.
We thoroughly enjoyed the decor, ease of parking, quickness of the staff and speed of the dishes arriving at our table.
We ordered: spicy cucumber, veg. dandan noodles, shrimp spring rolls and dumplings, taiwan sausage, dumplings in chili sauce, wonton soup, chicken and shrimp pot stickers, house fried rice, sour ribeye, king pao beef, black bean chicken and dry beef. All very good.
Finished with ice cream and cappuccinos!
Would definitely dine here again.

Dan Dan is a dressed up Chinese restaurant unlike any other we had experienced. While waiting at the bar for our friends, I looked at the slightly intimidating menu. It is Taiwanese Chinese food. The bar tender explained which dishes were served family style and made recommendations as to how to order. The waitress made more recommendations as to what to order and WOW!
The food was wonderful - i mean really outstanding. We four shared soup and 2 main courses and rice and noodles and it could be made hotter or milder as we preferred.
It was really a terrific experience.

Ordered take out last night. Inedible. We like spicy food, but this was insane. After two bites we were in pain and threw $100 of take out into the trash. We all ordered different dishes, but since they were “over the top” soaked in chili oil they could have all been the same thing—some dish swimming is way too spicy chili oil.
Do not waste your money. Boil some noodles at home and soak them in greasy chili oil so that they are so spicy your toungue goes numb and your taste buds can no longer function—that is the Dan Dan experience without the $100 price tag.

I ordered takeout from this restaurant, we wanted to give them a try because of the rave reviews.
Very disappointed with the food. It was average at best. Will stick with Hunan,Sam’s, the Green Dragon and the Ardmore area restaurants. They are worth the drive.
Dan-Dan is not even close when comparing.

We were excited to have an authentic Chinese restaurant opening in our neighborhood and have eaten at this restaurant several times. Although service was always very slow, we enjoyed the food, although the proportion of protein to other ingredients was fairly low. This last time was really a mess, though. They did not have the wine I requested or anything like it. As I had brought a bottle (not remembering that it was not byo), I asked if I could drink mine. The answer - yes, but you have to pay for corkage. This information was delivered while we were still waiting over 1/2 hour for our appetizer, which we had to ask for. Our server came over and said that the entrees would be served shortly, at which point we told him we wanted the app first; his response - oh, you didn't get it? Entree took another 15 minutes. All around us, diners were having the same problems. The hostesses tried to give us many excuses why they couldn't timely serve a half-full dining room, but we were not interested. Food, when it came, was ok.
