The Fourth of July and we did not plan very well for a picnic. Busy driving around the countryside, avoiding marathon runners and long strings of bicyclists (?--isn't there a towpath y'all can use?), climbing Bowman's Hill Tower, visiting the Continental Soldier's graves, etc. Hmm. Where to grab a bite to eat? Is anything even open on the Fourth?? YES! Colonial Farms Gourmet Deli and Market. AND they even have tables in the shade to eat your yummy sandwiches and stuff. I had a huge roast beef on rye; husband had a meatball "hoagie" on a not hoagy bun (it was delicious, he said), chips, drinks, dessert. Ah, PERFECT. Now, to the road again.
