Been here more than one occasion when I wanted a good hot Roast Beef sandwich. Although it is not cheap & nothing special about the place just a local bar that is friendly with decent service

We live in Newtown Square and have considered the Ale House our 'go to' restaurant for a quick bite. Roast beef sandwiches do not come rare and au jus very salty. After the last time we went with mediocre food and a large check we decided we will not be back. Sorry to have to say that!

Thank Susan W

Can't believe all the crying about high prices. This place has been here about 50 years and it looks it. Stop in here maybe 1x a year when visiting family and am never disappointed but sounds like the long time locals miss the old owner but guys---they retired so let's move on. Prices are still crazy reasonable with good cold beer, probably the best hot beef anywhere and decent cheese steaks. Ok--this is not fine dining but that's not why your here. It's good bar food at decent prices and friendly crowd.

My bride and I stopped in for an early dinner on a weeknight. Place was empty when we got there but the bar had filled up by the time we left.

Our dinners, roast beef sandwiches were good but at $ 11.00 they should be good.

Our server, as all servers there, seemed distracted and more interested in talking to themselves.
