This is our third year visiting Chestnut Grove Resort for our annual family reunion. The resort is perfect for large gatherings with lots of activities for all ages. Jerry, Angel, their family and staff are all amazingly helpful, friendly and fun. We look forward to going every year to not only catch up with family but also see what improvements this family-run business makes. Looking forward to going again next year!

Chestnut Grove Family Resort is a true Gem! Sadly places like this don’t exist anymore but thanks to owners Gerry and Angel one still does! Days are jam packed with events for kids and adults! If you choose not to participate in these events there’s so much to do, 2 pools, game room, archery, bocce ball, shuffle board, play ground, basketball, ladder ball, corn Hole Etc..... not to forget FISHING! The lake is teeming with small mouth bass! The number may seem like pure B.S. to most but my lowball estimate of fish I caught in my 7 days there is 120! Go into Mt. pocono right off of rt 940 to Whorley’s Bait shop get live minnows and the fish will come! My son won the fishing contest with a 13 1/4 inch bass! His prize was a new Tackle Box! At the Carriage House the entertainment is entertaining and the beers are always ice cold and the movies under the stars are very enjoyable too! Best Bang for your Buck around! The place is priceless family fun!

We have been coming to Chestnut Grove for a week in July for the past 3 years, after the Daniels Resort where we went for over 30 years closed. It was a challenge for any place to try and fill the void created by that closing, but the people at Chestnut Grove have stepped up to the plate and hit a home run. Several of our Daniels "family" have also continued to come every year. We also come for 2-3 weekends each year. We had been here for weekends in the past before Jerry and Angel took over the place. They are working so hard to make it a top notch place to stay. It's not a luxury resort, but it is a fun place to go. The breakfasts are excellent. Dinner is above average in most cases. Nice salad bar, soup is always delicious, 3 choices for main course so can always find something for everyone, dessert is worth saving room for. If you want lunch the Snack bar has a nice selection, but for most people the large breakfast holds you up until dinner. The Activities Director, Kevin Cronk, who my family knows for 20+ years came here after Daniels closed and is probably the main reason so many of us decided to give Chestnut Grove a try. He is always working to make sure everyone has a great time and something to do. Their is also a social directory, Callie for the kids, who loves her job and the kids love her. Daytime sport activities, Happy Hour Karaoke, and evening/late night dancing to some of the best bands/djs around. And if you need to get away during the day, CG is a short ride to many Pocono sights and shops. The Rooms a clean and comfortable. Only downside is the 2 bedroom rooms closer to the main buildings, share a bathroom only accessible from one of the rooms, so the other must enter that room to use the bathroom. Not an issue for a family, but not an ideal set up for 2 couples. They do have other rooms ideal for couples with a fireplace etc. which are on the other side of the lake so a bit of a hike to the Carriage House (dance room). Overall CG is great. The people are the best. Starting with the sweet smile Kathleen greets you with at check-in, the fun and dedicated Social Directors, the hard working wait staff, the helpful and dedicated housekeepers, the awesome bartenders, and top notch entertainment. And of course Jerry, Angel, Mike, Dad and all the members of their family who are working hard every day to make CG the go to place in the Poconos. The only problem is the location of the resort right near a road. Parents do need to keep a close eye on little ones. Perhaps moving the "Play park" to another more central location (switch with the volley ball court?) away from the road would be a great change. I'll be back again in July. Was just here last weekend for Rock and Roll. It was great. Luv Krazy and Heart of Stone totally rocked the place.

Room tip: Every type. Hotel, Family 2 bedroom, Couples, (fireplace etc) All have TV, WiFi, Coffee maker, mini-fridge.

We look forward to going to Chestnut Grove every year and we were not disappointed as usual. Jerry and Angel continue to make improvements every year since they took over. They also make you feel welcome. The staff and service were excellent. I don't want to mention names because I don't remember all of them, but every staff member who was working on labor day weekend 2017 deserves kudos as they all went above and beyond the call of duty for us all weekend. As is the norm, we went home very sad as we hate leaving. We are already looking forward to next year. Thank you Jerry and Angel for another great Labor Day weekend!
