The cuisine is from the Caucasus (Armenia-Georgia-Russia-Uzbekistan), although the sign and some online listings say it is "Middle Eastern." The menu is not terribly extensive, but everything they do, they do really, really well. Portions are huge, the food is top-notch, prices are reasonable, and the owners are friendly. It is worth traveling some distance for and if you're passing through on the highway it's a slam dunk.

An adventurous friend and I drove to find this restaurant........a RUSSIAN restaurant in Central PA.......as stated...in the middle of nothing>? We have driven on this road before and apparently this restaurant was not there. Definitely dated decor............but the FOOD was amazing! Granted we were there on a slow, winter Thurs early afternoon....but the wait for food was well worth it. The fresh baked bread came out and very tasty. Tried the soups and Shawarma. All excellent and tasty.
Would like to go back and take family.

Visited this restaurant on our trip to Connecticut. There are very few choices around this area. We were quite surprised with what we found. The restaurant doesn’t look like much, but the food was excellent. True authentic Russian/Armenian food. Large portions and reasonably priced. The only drawback is they make everything fresh so if you’re in a hurry, this is not the place. We had lamb shish kebabs, tomato salad, traditional meat pies and cheese pies. We will definitely go back.

If you're tired of hot dogs & other chain offerings, give yourself a treat -- and a taste adventure. Dishes from all over the middle east & Russia: soups, salads, mains, all cooked to order "with love," as the very welcoming owner explained. We'll definitely be back!

tired of fried food while your driving? Looking for something completely different? Well, if you're on I-80 in the middle of Pennsylvania, plan on stopping here. it's not fancy. it's not elegant. but it's certainly not macDonald's.

Kavkaz is run my an Armenian and a Russian, and the food is wonderful. The menu is limited, and on the Sunday afternoon when we were there not everything was available. But the lamb shashliki was tasty and tender, and the brown rice with vegetables was the perfect accompaniment.

Remember, good food is not fast food, so don't expect to zoom in and zoom out. stop a minute and take time to experience a little bit of Russia in the middle of nowhere.
