I am a history buff and especially enjoy learning about our US presidents. The Wheatland tour did not disappoint! It was an easy trip from Harrisburg taking about 45 minutes. Parking is ample. The grounds are beautiful and the home is in very good condition having been built in 1828. I arrived at 10am and just missed the first tour, they run every hour on the hour. The lady at the ticket counter called the guide and asked if I could join the 10am tour. When I arrived at the entrance to Wheatland I was greeted by a tour guide in period dress and was asked if I would like a private tour. I said of course and spent the next hour with an extremely informative and well spoken guide named Vickie. I had some previous knowledge of James Buchanan but now have a much greater sense of him as a real person. The guides are all volunteers and the site is a private non profit. My senior ticket was $13. There is a donation box at the exit and I wished I had cash! The museum took me about an hour to go through and there is a nice small gift shop and a 10 minute movie. Overall this is a very nice informative little gem!
