Date night with hubby at this place. Hibachi is the way to go and that was our choice. Everything was delicious: fried rice, vegetables, filet mignon, and lobster. The chef who performed our hibachi experience kept us laughing and having a blast. Highlights of the performance was the knife/spatula tricks and fire onion. Restaurant and bathroom facilities are clean and nice. Its a little pricey, but this is what you should expect when you have dinner and a show. Make sure to ask for the "yummy" sauce. (Yes, that is what its really called.) We definitely plan on returning in the future with our family. If you haven't tried this restaurant yet, I highly suggest that you do! Also, make sure you have time to relax so you can enjoy your live action hibachi experience.

Hello there!

It is our experience that many folks in the Johnstown, PA area are often reluctant to try new things and branch out in regards to foods. We were among those people before we tried Fuji Japanese Steakhouse in the Galleria. If you like fresh food and vegetables, this is for you! I am a pescatarian (only eat fish) and my husband eats just about anything, and the menu is tailored to any type of diet, so it is perfect. We recommend trying the hibachi before the traditional table service (as you get to truly experience the Japanese culture with the food show as the cook prepares your meal in front of you.) We tend to go during the lunch special hours as the prices are extremely low then. Their freshly brewed iced tea is also wonderful. We have never had a "bad" meal there and enjoy taking friends and family there every chance we get. If you do opt for the hibachi, be prepared to enjoy your time there and settle in for a bit (as it is an experience and requires time.) Enjoy!

We had last eaten at (and reviewed) Fuji just over 3 years ago and, after that experience, we were reluctant to return.
Last night we did.
THAT was a horrible mistake.

ONCE AGAIN, we stressed to our server that we wanted our Sushi as an appetizer BEFORE the meal.
ONCE AGAIN, the chef was already at our table preparing our meals when the Sushi arrived.
We refused it.

On previous visits, the food was nicely prepared, tasty and plentiful.
Not this time.
Our soup was a very bland BROTH ONLY, with NOTHING else in it.
Our salads were NOTHING but lettuce, with a dressing that was anything BUT tasty.
My dining partner did find a sliver if carrot in her salad, about the diameter of a toothpick, and 1/2 the length.
When placing our orders, we were asked if we wanted white or fried rice - no mention was made of noodles, but there were others at our table who received noodles IN ADDITION to their rice.

Portions were significantly smaller that on our previous visits, and it was obvious the chef was UNDER seasoning everything as he prepared it.
The result, as expected, was VERY bland food.
Service on drink refills has improved to "adequate".

We have eaten at more Japanese Steak Houses than I could ever begin to count.
THIS was - BY FAR - the most abysmal experience we've ever had at one.
We won't make the same mistake again..

This Hiabatchi is excellent and the chef was quite entertaining.
I ordered the veggie Hiabatchi with fried rice while others in my family ordered a variety of Hiabatchi meals including shrimp to chicken and noodles. It was all quite delicious. The portions are quite generous also.

Meal: They begin with the first course, a Miso soup. It was good. Not abundant of full flavors but enjoyable.
Next is a fresh salad (lettuce with a cucumber slice) with ginger dressing. They do not skimp on dressing. It was enjoyable.
Then the main course - cooked in front of you.
If you ordered sushi, it comes out right before the chef prepares your main dish.
After dinner, they bring a fresh orange with the peel neatly cut off and used as garnish.

Sushi: We ordered an item not on their sushi menu: Springtime roll. Very very delicious. California roll are very small pieces but tasty nonetheless. I have had better sushi but it is still good and won't break the bank ordering the sushi here.

Overall: I will eat here again and order sushi too. The lunch meals are a little more than half the cost of dinner meals. If you want to save some money, go over lunch hours. (Ex: lunch shrimp Hiabatchi is about $12 compared to $19 at dinner). Portions are slightly smaller over lunch. Both are too much for me and always take home leftovers.
