“If you take the king room its like a proper hotel”
Reviewed 2 January 2012

They lost our booking.com reservation but were able to give us a room. Price was actually cheaper than on booking.com. The room is not big but new and clean. Flat tv and air conditioning. Hostel type of noise but proper for the buron bay athmosphere.

On a positive note, the location is great, the rooms are a really good size and the communal areas are nice so it's easy to meet people. However the staff were awful - my friend and I stayed in a private room, we asked to see a room before checking in and the girl on reception just rolled her eyes and complained she didn't want to walk up the stairs to show us. Any time we went to reception for anything we were made to feel like a nuisance! The room we eventually saw was fine so we checked in but on closer inspection you could see that the rooms are not thoroughly cleaned. We just stayed one night before moving to Aquarius down the road which was much better.

Nomads is somewhere in-between a backpackers and a hotel. We stayed in a 6-bed dorm for a weekend. The rooms were spotless, including the ensuite. The beds were super comfortable and the room was really spacious. Air-con is a big plus too. We had a slightly different experience to other reviewers - no problems with noise or excess drinking. To be honest, Byron exists in part for backpackers to cut loose and enjoy themselves, so you have to expect a degree of tomfoolery.

The staff were really pleasant and patient, which is rare at a backpackers IMHO.

It's slightly more expensive than some of the other options in Byron, but you'll probably find it's money well spent. If you're a YHA member, I think you'll get a discount. It's not smack on the beach, but only 1 block back, and really in the heart of the town. Byron is amazing so it's pretty hard to have a bad time, but Nomads gives you a head start.

Stay here!

Room Tip: Get a room with an ensuite. If you want a bit more down-time, ask for a room facing the road at the...

We stayed there 2 nights, and it was a decent backpackers - nothing really special and nothing really to complain about. The hostel was quite new so everything seem to be still in quite a good shape. Rooms were big enough and we had our own balcony. The location was very good.

Where do I start. The only good thing is it's location. The two of us stayed in a four bed room. We like hostels and enjoy meeting people but this place is a nightmare. The majority of people here are here to drink til they puke in the halls and in the courtyard. At 2100 the courtyard turns into a drinking yard game and the nearest club is quitter than this place. People run the halls outside your door until 5 AM and unless you have an arsenal of sleeping pills you will not sleep. The kitchen is well equipped and actually clean but this is because the majority of the crowed who stays here don't eat they only drink. We stayed in many hostels along the east coast and we love to party and have a great time and tie one on but that should be separate from the sleeping quarters. I only stayed here two nights and if we were booked for more than that I would have cancelled my reservation at any cost. I got more sleep on the greyhound bus than this place. If you are 21 and want to drink all night until 6 am and sleep all day then this might be your place. I wouldn't even have stayed in a private room because the majority of the insane noise came from the courtyard and the halls. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! I have no photos to post of this hostel because I didn't any momentos of this place

Room Tip: there are no good rooms
