Excellent selection of takeaway in a dinner box (includes rice) just $15. Great flavored. We had beef which has a lovely lemongrass flavor and soft meat also the pad Thai is fantastic, also $15. A very affordable dinner and the park opposite has picnic tables and the best view.

Great food that is freshly prepared, all natural ingredients and prepared on site. Try the Gato Gato it's awesome. This is our favourite restaurant to eat at when we stay at the pub. It's very close by, well priced and the food is fresh and delicious always and the service is good too.

We'd eaten here a couple of years ago and it was good. We went back recently and the food was gluggy, over-sauced and most of the dishes on the table had a sameness about them. The duck and noodles could have been any meat swimming in a soy-rich, sweet sauce. The prices were fine but they really need to lift their game. Out of the six of us who ate here, only one enjoyed their meal.

I would say that all of our friends are well traveled so, the food hear is takeaway standard, that's all. service: the woman, the only person serving, was way to busy hugging her girl friend than serving guests(I'm gay)to pay any attention to our table. A missed opportunity as Brunswick Heads is lovely(20yrs we have been visiting)and the potential is there! Martin&David 17yrs the senior trainer at a theme park on the Gold Coast!

We had a table for 6 for the evening. Being the height of the summer season the place was packed, and made even more frantic by the people wandering to order to take away. And unfortunately management had understaffed for the evening. The waitress did a most valiant job serving meals on her own (30 covers), coping with the take away orders and even a one stage doing a bit of the cooking.

One good point about Rice is that it allows b.y.o alcohol, which helps to keep the overall restaurant bill down. And that's a good thing as meal prices for the curry dishes were quite expensive, especially for the portion sizes.

The entrees were average, with small portions; the calamari was uninspiring, although the fish cakes were very tasty with a selection of dipping sauces. The share-platter at $29 was more a platter for 1 than 2.

Rice claims to be an Indonesian restaurant and so a few of us ordered the Beef Rendang. Which was a pity as when the dish finally arrived (after much waiting to order and then waiting for the chef) it was insipid, and non-descript, lacking in taste, chilli and the rich, dark gravy that we had been expecting.

The crispy fish basil curry was mild, and exactly as ordered, and was proclaimed to be delicious in spite of the fact that there was no crispy fish sighted.

The nasi campur, had a tasty peanut sauce and the vegetables were still slightly crunchy.

The duck shank with lychee, while tasty was essentially lacking in any volume, again this was saved by us having ordered entrees.

In all, the night was pleasant, with a busy atmosphere, but for the prices the restaurant was charging for a basic curry, the portions were awfully small.
We may go back another time, out of season, in the hope that a less overloaded waiting and cooking staff improve the quality of the meals.
