Had Christmas party on 15th December 2017, sadly it was the worst I have ever been to.Only 4 tables had been booked totalling 32 guests, which made the function room seem huge. Function room poorly decorated for a Christmas party. Staff were brusque, verging on rude. Food was very unappetising. Whilst we were trying to eat the first course, staff were leaning over us trying to clear the Christmas cracker debris. Turkey dinner was OK but came flooded in beef gravy whether you wanted it or not. Christmas pudding was overcooked and staff asked why many of us had not eaten it, and we told them it was hard, they just said, "oh". Music system was broken and took over an hour and half to fix (with the help of one of the other guests). Manager was not sorry and said these things happen !!. By 9.30pm many other guests had gone home, be we stayed until the end (to be with our friends), which was 11.30 when the lights went on and was told thats it............. drinks very very expensive at £5 a pint. Definitely wont be returning. manager must take responsibility

Fantastic views from the front of hotel rooms, especially the a Avelon suite, which overlooks the sea at Charlestown. It is a charming hotel , not large, but very friendly, and the owner is certainly hands on.Yes it needs a little updating, but as it is adds to the ambience of the property.
The breakfast was really good, hot, and plenty of choice, which was pleasantly served, as was the evening meal. I wished that the a la crate menu was changed daily, as I found that it was only changed every two to three days.
A great place to stay for touring Cornwall and of course The Eden Project. The friendly team really make this hotel stand out, as does the fantastic view.Well recommended.

Room tip: Sea facing, and if possible the suite

Lovely hotel in a great location overlooking the sea. Close to Charlestown with some lovely pubs and restaurants. Our bedroom was a good size, great view and the breakfast didn't disappoint. Thank you

Stayed for 2 nights last weekend. Hotel is a handsome building on a prime position commanding magnificent views down the bay. Public rooms smart & well maintained , comfortable , welcoming. Our room ok & clean , ( certainly quiet as I requested ), bathroom a bit cramped . The hotel was very quiet 1st evening, but we opted to have dinner ...ended up on our own in the restaurant , so distinct lack of buzz & atmosphere. Food was excellent .Service is efficient .Breakfasts also very good.Would recommend this hotel & stay again , but aim for a superior room at a livelier time. The Olive Garden dining looks lovely for summer dining.

Room tip: We were in a rear wing extension, bit of a route march through narrow corridors ...prime rooms to the front

Thank you for your review. I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and our food, which is something we pride ourselves on.
I hope we can welcome you back again, perhaps at a busier time of year. I recommend September if you want to avoid the school holidays but still enjoy the buzz of Cornish Hospitality at its best! If you want to enjoy the most of our spectacular sea views, I would definitely recommend upgrading to a deluxe or superior room to really make the most of your stay. Hope to see you again soon.
Kind regards,
Heather

Wonderfully friendly staff and fantastic views. Good food and comfortable accommodation. Only negative was lack of a lift so travel light. Book direct for best deal and dine in. Hotel is just across the road from coastal path and a short walk from Charlestown historical area for Poldark enthusiasts.

Room tip: Pay a bit more for a view.
