“Disappointed”

The Lost Gardens of Heligan

Probably much better if you have young children. For us it was expensive for little more than a country walk. No flowers really this time of year other than daffodils.
Had a nice walk but could have done this elsewhere for free. Highlight was to cross a bridge for which we had to queue and was definitely not worth the wait I'm afraid.
Lots of cars stuck in mud in the car park too. Overall very disappointed for what cost our family about £65.

Thank Nikki G

Since your visit, we have invested in extra hard standing in the car parks to improve our parking facilities. The recent sunny weather has also helped greatly.

Although there are free woodland type walks in the area, Heligan is home to the UK’s only outdoor Jungle, Productive Gardens and much more that are well worth enjoying.

With the first snow in around ten years, our spring blooms were sadly delayed this year. We’re pleased to report that the sunshine has now worked its magic and the gardens look fantastic.

We’re sorry that you left feeling disappointed but do hope that you’ll come back to see the gardens at their best a little later in the year.

We’d been recommended the Lost Gardens as a contrast to the nearby Eden Garden and something different. The Gardens were rediscovered in the 1990s but, in renovating, much of the potential charm of an undeveloped place has been lost. It is a work in progress and indeed there were echoes of other forest/woodland attractions especially in the jungle area. The target audience is young families so, with hindsight, not really for us. Given that we could have walked on many local public footpaths for free, the entrance fee seemed a bit steep (at £14.50 each).

Came here for the day with my young kids. The place is just breathtaking. The gardens immaculate and so much to see. We visited for the scarecrow Easter hunt which the kids loved getting involved in. The jungle area was great too and the jungle canyon bridge. Great day out! Highly recommend if your in the area.

This is definitely one of the more dog friendly gardens to visit.

Your pooch can go pretty much everywhere and there is a large part of the cafe they can also sit in.

We love coming here, even though my kids are now teenagers. There is plenty to do for all ages, and the gardens are wonderful all year round.

Lots of parking, and great shop. The lambs and the farm were a real hit and also the bird watching.
