This was meant to be the perfect ending to our day - Newquay and Perran sands visited and a super meal in an old established inn!! Not at all!! Booked a table in advance but arrived and no dogs in the restaurant!! Really? Could not get a table together (8 of us) all sat separately in the Bar. No difference in the menu - same food, same price. Service was sadly lacking as they completely forgot one meal and when it did arrive it was inedible. A starter of chicken liver contained "fine bones" - since when??? Lovely place - poor service, poor quality, no atmosphere!!!

Having visited Jamaica Inn several times over the years, its still not improved regarding the food served, high prices and staff that look over worked and totally frustrated with the whole set-up. We visited early March, and although it was a mid-week visit, the place was fairly busy, but having to wait nearly 45 minutes for a simply meal was poor. Our table was not cleaned and still had traces of food from the previous guest. The food quality was lacking and probably "microwaved" ? Its a great shame as the historical side is well presented and has a world renown reputation, but the same can't be said of the restaurant.

A bit more intersting pub, as it has a smugglers past and features in Daphne Du Maurier's book. Worth a visit if you are passing by.

We stopped on way to Newquay for short visit ,very charming with lots of history and things to take pictures of.Good gift shop with books to read up on history.
Would have been great to have been able to spend a night as they had plenty more on offer.

The service was slow as well as quite confused. In addition, the food, in comparison to food served in similar (and cheaper) establishments, was not very good at all. Order chicken and bacon sandwich, bread cut very thick as a gimmick. Cheap margarine and processed chicken. Milk in plastic containers, cheap frozen chips.
