What a fun place. A little quirky. Hotel built turn of the century and remodeled. Missing a few minor things but loved this place. Spoke with Manager Jim who went overboard to assist us with our reservation. Ashland also very pleasant and helpful. Beds comfortable and clean. Girls shared large queen double with more space than they needed. Excellent cable TV, refrig and microwave. Small bar in dining area with local craft beers. Great place to stay in neat little town.

Thanks very much for your review and for your nice comments about our staff.
In actual fact, the Hotel was built right after the turn of the century...the 18th century.
The Hotel Wayne has been in continuous operation since 1827 and we strive hard to maintain the character as it was then, yet with modern amenities.

We stopped at the Wayne Hotel a couple of times this Summer to grab a beer and ended up with a delicious meal of Salmon and came back since it was so good the bartenders remembered us which made us come back for a third time, it's becoming our favorite spot! We would recommend it gray beer variety!

We stayed here for one night and that was more than enough. It is a quaint hotel from the outside. Our room was on the 3rd floor and the stairs all the way up had mud all over them. Our room was tiny and cramped and dirty. The window A/C is plugged in an extension cord. That did not seem safe. The shower was horrible. We had super hot water, cold water, or none. Made it hard to shower! This hotel could be really neat. It needs a good cleaning and some updating for sure! I was not comfortable here and anxious to check out in the morning.

The Hotel Wayne is truly a historic hotel in continuous operation since 1827. As such it is maintained in the historic character(including room furniture) but it is very clean and provides modern services and amenities. We are sorry this guest did not like the character of the hotel.

If you have to stay in Honesdale, the Wayne is probably your best choice. As a quaint historic hotel, it's okay. As a hotel, it's mediocre. We stayed at the Wayne for two nights in July, 2017 for a fishing trip. Here's our opinion;

- PROS -

Decent staff, affordable rooms, relatively clean, great, but inconsistent, restaurant. We found staff friendly, responsive to our requests, and generally capable. The Bistro 2012 restaurant is fair, but inconsistent. The location is great for wandering around Honesdale, should that be on your agenda.

- CONS -

Very poor wifi, noisy window unit AC, poorly stocked kitchen (two bedroom suite), uncomfortable furniture, lack of table, counter, shelf storage throughout. The housekeeping service did not clean out kitchen, the towel rails in the bathroom and the top of the fridge appeared too have never been dusted. The TV had only acceptable reception.

The Bistro 1202 can do decent food, but we found them inconsistent and mediocre with some basic courses (Caesar salad was bland, filet mignon was less than stellar).

- BOTTOM LINE -

For a short stay with low expectations, the Wayne will for the bill. If you're particular or value comfort when you're traveling, you'll do better at one of the many respects in the area. The two bedroom suite offers the best cost to comfort ratio and sticking with the burgers in the restaurant or eating elsewhere would be a safe bet and probably easier on the wallet.

This guest rented our spacious 2 bedroom suite and had 8 people stay there which is more than we allow. As far as our restaurant....you can see all the excellent reviews. His complaint was about the price. I suggest he and his 7 companions go eat at a fast food restaurant. not the Hotel Wayne whose restaurant is AAA rated as excellent.

No elevator, everything in this hotel squeaks, I think there were more ghosts than people in the hotel! Has a decent bar with a good variety. My door lock got stuck in lock position and we had to have maintenance break it open, spooky! Totally not worth the ridiculous $120 a night, was a moment of desperation and there are really no other choices in town.

Room Tip: no elevator, lower floor!

The Historic Hotel Wayne does not have an elevator which is impossible to install due to it being a registered historic site. Our maintenance man who opened the door told me that the guest was turning the key the wrong way....
