My wife and I spent two days at the James Manning House and we were totally satisfied!
First of all, we received an upgrade to the nicest room in the house and that was unexpected and highly appreciated.
Both Warren and Janet were very friendly and made us feel totally at home with their delicious home made cuisine and interesting conversation.
We were also very impressed by the extremely beautiful nature around the house: lakes, rivers, parks, flowers, farms, creameries all around made us feel totally happy, and we are definitely planning to go back.

Comfy, welcoming, delicious... are among other adjectives to describe our wonderful night at this B&B. The large room we stayed in had a day bed as well as the queen bed, and also had en suite bathroom and a gas fire in the fireplace next to a rocking chair. The mattress and bedding set made our night one of the most comfortable nights ever! You can purchase the bedding from the owners, and can also purchase their homemade jams. Will hopefully stay here again next time we’re up near Honesdale.

My husband and I have stayed at the James Manning House three times now, and have enjoyed everything about this interesting, beautiful, historic home, from our room, to the hospitality of our hosts, to the delicious breakfasts they serve.

We stayed in the largest room, the Wayne Room, during our most recent visit. We have stayed in many B&B's here and abroad, and the Manning House's rooms are among the most beautifully decorated. Our room had a sitting area, a day bed, a large, wonderful dressing room, a roomy bathroom and a very comfortable queen bed. It also had an electric fireplace with a remote that allowed you to add heat. We did this in the evening and early morning, then turned it off when we slept. It was a lovely touch, as were the thick robes left for our use in the closet. Yes, a closet, ample hangers, and ample drawer space -- a rarity in so many B&B's, inns and hotels.

Janet and Warren are lovely, interesting people and made our stay quite comfortable. Breakfast was different each of the three days of our visit. Meals included delectable Dutch Apple pancakes, a hearty egg and vegetable dish, sausages, bacon,
fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade muffins, juice, coffee and tea.

Janet and Dean are natives of the area and their extensive and lovely collection of antiques is a reflection of their passion for its history. Talking with them, you realize that a sense of authenticity pervades the home, from its furnishings, to its fresh food, to the warmth and helpfulness of its hosts. Your experience staying here will be the same.

The home was beautiful, the hosts were gracious and the food was delicious! We stayed there to visit Elk Mountain - about a 30 minute drive. Restaurant recommendations were great. Little town of Honesdale is quaint.

Room Tip: My family had the two smaller rooms, which worked just fine for us.
