This is my second time staying at The Red Lion Hotel. Once again, the staff at this hotel is AMAZING! They are very friendly and accommodating, and try with-in reason, to meet your every request. Our room was clean, comfortable and updated. The manager Randy, is still by far the most customer oriented manager I have ever met. He goes out of his way to make you feel like an important guest at his hotel! KUDOS to someone that takes their job seriously and LOVES what he is doing! The indoor pool area was closed during our 2 night stay due to seasonal maintenance. This happens at all hotels though and if this is important to you, then I suggest inquiring before your stay. We did try dinner at the hotel this year, and would have to rate it just average. My fillet, although quite tender, was overcooked and my baked potato was undercooked. Our server was wonderful though and we did not complain about the meals.

Room Tip: Suites overlooking the outdoor pool area are very nice.

My apologies for any inconvenience the closure of our indoor pool caused. We typically close it on Labor Day for 5 days for painting, deep cleaning and any misc. repairs. I stayed at this hotel earlier this month. Room, bath room was clean, bed was comfortable. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Enjoyed the swim in their pool. Will recommend this hotel in Harrisburg, and will come back again.

We have stayed here several times and the facility and hotel staff are the best. Randy always treats us like we are part of his family. We arrived Saturday afternoon and our room (The Family Suite)was cleaned and ready for our arrival. Every visit we are more and more impressed with the wonderful updates that they continue to do. So we were pleasantly surprised when we walked into our room and it had that new carpet smell only to see brand new beautiful carpet. The room was very clean and decorated well. My husband said it was the best night sleep he's had in a while on the comfortable mattress. The room was very spacious for our family of five. We had a balcony that over looked the beautiful well kept out door pool, hot tub and children's play area. We did request an extra blanket and within minutes someone was knocking at our door.
We will definitely be back and we always recommend The Red lion Hotel to our out of town friends and family.

My son and i stayed here this weekend. Great room and friendly staff. Although we did not use either the undoor or outdoor pool they looked great. The restaurant can use some help. No decor at all,the seafood buffet was ehhhh nothing special. So if your looking for a place thats clean and close to Hershey for a reasonable price,this is it

Stayed for 2 nights, and on arrival we saw a big banner saying 'Welcome, to the friendliest hotel in the country'.

We arrived on a Sunday at 4.00pm when the room was due to be ready, but were told all rooms were booked yesterday and so our room was not yet ready. It took about half an hour before we got our room.

We had booked a room with 2 queen beds and a patio with a pool view. We got to the room and found it didn't have a pool view, just a view of the wall opposite. Went back to query the room and was told they had no pool view rooms available with 2 queen beds, so we swapped to a king size with a sofa bed and pool view, which offered a much improved view.

The room itself was OK, relatively new carpet with a new bed, but it seemed a shame that having gone to this effort they didnt replace the furniture or improve the dated bathroom.

To be fair the bed was one of the most comfortable during our 2 1/2 week US vacation. There was no cleaning of the room after the first night, but this might have been an oversite to do with swapping rooms on check-in?

The hotel had a nice games room and me and my son enjoyed playing table tennis and on the Wi, and the pool area was OK as was the childrens play equipment.

The rest of the hotel was what lets this hotel down. The corridor carpets were stained and un-inviting, with the stairs giving the hotel the feel of a budget ferry boat. A strange mix.

We had breakfast in the hotel on the first morning, but was not impressed with a poor choice of average cooked options. No yoghurts were available at that time and a limited choice of fruit, with no bananas. The next morning we drove around 1/3 of a mile and went to a Wendys restaurant, which offered a lot more choice for less than half the price, with their special Monday - Friday half price deal.

(As for the hotel staff friendliness, slightly above average but not exceptional).

Perhaps this hotel is more suited to a family holiday over a longer stay where guests can get to experience the friendliness of the staff, and take full advantage of the hotels amenities rather than our 2 night stay.

As a Level 6 Contributor on TripAdvisor, we understand and appreciate how much you value quality accommodations and great service. It’s never part of our plans to provide an underwhelming experience for any guest we’re fortunate to accommodate. Exceptional customer service is our hallmark, and for that not to be evident, and on full display during your visit is very disappointing to us.

We recently completed carpet renovations in all guest rooms and have replaced mattress sets in several rooms. We will continue purchasing new mattress set over the next couple months. In addition, hallway carpet will be replaced in Q4. We are very excited to launch this project, as it promises to provide a tremendously appealing look throughout the property. The design and colors are fantastic.

I will review your comments regarding our breakfast buffet with our team to ensure our quality and preparation is maintained, and of the highest standard. I’m not sure we can meet the value at Wendy’s, but I’m confident, we can have yogurt and bananas available.
