Owner description: The largest urban park in the county, lined with trails for hiking and biking.

This is a gorgeous natural park in Portland, Ideal for day hikes and simply enjoying the beauty of the free grown natural hillside flora and fauna of the northwest. Do take a friend with you if you hike it. Occasionally (very rare) folks have been confronted with human denizens of the park who are of ill intent. If there are at least two of you that risk goes way down.

Many cities would have built houses on it or made it into something "modern", but not Portland. This is a large park with many paths for walking and biking. This is wilderness in the city.

If you like the Redwoods or being in different environments within nature you get a vast array of experiences on the trails here. Try the hike from the Vet's memorial to Pittock Mansion!

Minutes from downtown, this wonderful park is a great place to walk, hike, ride bikes, take a dog (on a leash) and get away from the city.

I'm not a fan...if I want forest, I'll go into the Gorge and find a waterfall or vista. Forest Park has little of either. It's only advantage is that it's close to downtown.
