On Labor Day 2013, our family gathered for a fun & affordable afternoon at the horse races. Many of us had never been to this venue near the Columbia River, in Portland, Oregon. Arriving early is recommended, if table seating is needed. There are people of all ages & walks of life: Free admission & parking, a wide array of food & beverage options, and a lot f racing events of variable lengths. It was fun to speculate potential win, place or show winners. Staff was very helpful assisting our group figure out how to read the program, there were presentations available about how to read the racing form, BBQ competition & activities for children & families at the infield & even free mystery vouchers made available for prior registration to partake in the betting (random amounts, special event) the day of the races! It is an experience not to be missed...great, animated people watching too! We'll be back :D

Kid friendly, however, there is drinking and smoking right around the kids so if you don't like that this isn't a good family outing. On the flip side if you don't want kids tripping over you there are places to get away from them.

The food places and the shirt place do not take cards, there are ATM's. I didn't use the ATM so can't tell you the charge. Just know that you have to have cash for everything.

Plenty of people were there to help with the betting machines. It was very clean. Lots of parking.

Don't just go and sit in a seat. Get down to the saddling enclosure and see the horses and all the folks that make racing possible. If you want the full treatment rent a booth up in the Turf club and enjoy the buffet and your own private table to use the whole day.

Definitely a great way to spend an afternoon with friends. They tend to have lots of events going on, like outdoor BBQs or theme days. Easy to get by without spending a ton of money, although you should definitely cough up a few bucks to buy yourself a Corona-rita at the bar (margarita with an upside down coronita in it).

If only they had more race days on weekends!

Free parking Free entrance
Fun even if it's raining
My grand kids love it, they get to see the horses and jockeys up close
If u don't go crazy on the gambling then it's a cheap day out
My only complaint is that the horses done run often enough so ck the schedule
