Great downtown place for lunch. Close set tables but did not feel crowded. The salads, soups, and paninis were delicious. The mushroom soup had great favor and lighter than most. Beet and gorgonzola salads were wonderful. Mix and match lunch menu allows customers to get soup & sandwich or all 3, soup, sandwich, salad. Wine and beer also available. Very pleasant and helpful servers. Merits a return trip. $$-$$$.

Noisy and rushed but that's good in a lunch spot where you need to be seated and served in a hurry. We were asked if we had a reservation, which was a bit of a surprise for a place this casual (that you would need a reservation, I mean) - but even without a reservation we waited less than 10 minutes for a table. Once seated the server attended to us very quickly, and once we had ordered the food arrived quickly too. I had the Muffuletta sandwich, which I enjoyed a lot, and my colleague like his meal too (of course, he chose the restaurant!). The tomato soup was excellent too.

We wanted something close by the Heathman Hotel since we were going to a concert next door at the Schnitzer seeing Joe Bonamassa and what a great food start. The two appetizer plates were delicious with lots of variety. Except for one who had soup and said it was ok but not hot, our sandwiches were yummy. We’d go again.

Loved the option to get half portions of everything on the menu. Had a great lunch with 3 different menu items for only $15.

Picnic House is a favorite of ours when we are looking for lunch downtown. The food and service are always great - and we have been here nearly a dozen times over the past couple years.
A favorite lunch is one of the combinations that you can build: sandwiches, soups, and salads can be ordered as a single order, or choose a serving of two or three of the courses. What we find is that the portions, while smaller than when ordering just one course, are plenty. Our favorite salad is the brown rice with squash, cauliflower, and other tasty items. We ventured away today from the shaved turkey sandwich (always what we order) for the bacon tomato sandwich - good choice. All soups are good, but the tomato basil is outstanding. In fact, we have never ordered any item that we did not find to our liking.

Put the food with good service in a casual, warm, interesting environment and lunch is always wonderful.
