We found the staff very courteous and helpful. One man working valet suggested several excellent restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. My friend who is a foodie highly approved of his suggestions. The room was clean which is always my main concern and the breakfast was a nice addition. I stayed there with several friends on our annual girls get-a-way and we all agreed it was a great place to stay.

I've stayed at this hotel several times for work. I've found the staff/service to always be very good. The suites are a good size, feels like home.

The location of the hotel is great, with tons of great restaurants and food truck options within a few blocks. The area itself has been suffering from some homelessness issues in recent years, but I have not had any issues wandering around the area at night. The evening reception (open bar and snacks) and the robust breakfast buffets are both very popular with our group. The Kingsland has great sandwiches - I love the jerk chicken and the avocado toast is very good too.

There is a hot tub and pool in the basement. Don't expect any ambiance down there, but it is nice place to sit and relax after a long day.

My one issue are the paper thin walls. You will hear every cough, sneeze, or whatever else (use your imagination) from your neighbours on the other side of the wall. The hotel should invest in some soundproofing upgrades. New technology is available to retrofit older buildings with soundproofing.

Avoid the West side of the building as there is a parking lot that has a loud horn going off constantly all day.

It's close to the MAX, but for your own safety, I recommend getting off at the Oak & 1st station rather than Skidmore Fountain.

Room Tip: Don't stay in a West-facing room (loud garage across the street)

We chose this hotel based on past positive experiences with Embassy Suites hotels, as well as its location and the availability of a one bedroom suite that would accommodate three persons. However, the sofa bed was so uncomfortable as to be unusable. Overall, the hotel has a worn feeling and could use a major and modern remodel. I think there are better options in downtown Portland at the same price point.

Great Embassy suites located in downtown area which appeared to be close enough to walk to many areas of interest. The hotel was fabulous but no one told us about the large homeless population in Portland, so we really didn't feel safe going out after dark .... and sometimes even during the day. We ended up taking Lyft to places that technically would be walking distance. We enjoyed out stay but probably won't be back to Portland any time soon.
