Best motel on Oregon Coast & owners are wonderful! Love all of the different themed rooms....favorite Western & Hunting Lodge! Beach is amazing....like having your own private one! Location is awesome....not far from Depot Bay or Lincoln City. We go to the casino & outlet mall there. Best ever breakfast is Coffee House in Newport! Private balcony for wine & sunset & diary in every room fun to read & write in! Best of all awesome owners who occasionally bake treats & know you by name!

There aren't actually too many good beachfront motels in Newport Oregon, most people that want easy beach access stay further north or further south, but Moolack shores is one of the few in Newport. All the rooms have a theme and the property is older but lovingly maintained. The beach access is fantastic and it is a beautiful spot with a view of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. The only bummer about the location is the noise coming from Hwy 101 that the property is just barely off of. The ocean soon drowns that out as you get closer to the beach. The corner room we were in was quite spacious, particularly with the separate bedroom, and the views were nice except when some other guests would frequently gather outside our room (in front of our window) to smoke cigarettes and chat. At least it was evening and there wasn't much to see at that point, but it was a bit of a nuisance.

Room tip: Corner suites are easily the best.

We have been staying at Moolack for years. Always a nice quiet stay. Beautiful ocean views and a quick private beach access. Managers are always friendly and helpful. Only drawback is you have to travel to restaurants.

Room tip: All rooms have a view of the ocean but rooms facing the beach are best. Some have kitchens or kitchenettes.

My husband and I spent our Honeymoon here and now our Anniversary 33 years later and many times in between and it always makes us feel like we're in our own cozy home with amazing ocean views, fireplaces, some kitchens, great access to the beach. It's not fancy, but clean, charming, and the people who work there take care of you. It's a small motel that makes it feel very private with Depoe Bay and Newport very close, which gives you many options for dinning or site seeing all along the coast. There's something said about a place that is still great after all theses years. Go, you'll enjoy the beautiful coast at Moolack Shores!

Great view of the lighthouse, bring a telephoto lens thou, you look right down onto the expansive beach, Each room has a kitchen, but a lot of their dishes pot and pans are WORN out, the kettle for boiling water was rusty on the bottom as was at least one pot. The rooms really need a better cleaning job. For the past 3 years we have stayed their there has been dust/dirt even dead fly's on some window sills, some looked like they had been there for a while (in the Western Room). Manager's wife (sister?) has been somewhat rude every year we stayed there. We have decide to stay somewhere else next year.

Room tip: Room 3 - 11 have the best ocean views, not #8, 4 gets foot traffic from folks by your porch to take a photo of the wooden sea captain.
